“What?” I croak out.
“He’s a wolf. So are Niko and Flint. I think Ash is a polar bear, and Flint is another bear. Lots of people in town are bear and wolf shifters, too. It’s like a whole pack.”
My knees give out, and I fall onto the bed.
“I really thought that Gunner would have said something to you about all of this. Especially since you’re his fated mate,” she says, sounding annoyed with him.
“I’m his what?”
“His fated mate. Shifters can only love and be with one person. It’s called their fated mate. I’m Davis’, Elle is Niko’s. I guess Tessa is Ash’s,” she rambles, and I blink.
“What does that mean?”
“It means that he’ll only ever want or love you. You two are literally meant to be together.”
“How do you know that? How does he know that?”
“It’s something about your scent.”
“My scent,” I say flatly, and she hums.
“Has he been acting weird today?”
“Yeah,” I admit.
“Have you felt weird today? Like horny? Really horny?”
“Yeah,” I say softly.
“It’s the full moon. For shifters, that’s mating time. You’re both feeling the mating heat.”
“He didn’t say anything. In fact, he’s been trying his hardest to stay away from me all day.”
“Well, that’s understandable. You’re going through a lot. This would just be one more thing to add to your already full plate.”
“I guess. Or he doesn’t really want me.”
“He does. Trust me.”
I want to believe her, but all I can think is that if he really wanted me, wouldn’t he be here right now?
I hear the back door bang open, and I let out a startled cry as I sit up straighter in bed.
“He’s back,” I whisper to Cameron.
“Good luck,” she says, and I scowl as she hangs up.
I turn to face the bedroom door, wondering what the heck happens now.

Shit,I think as soon as I shift and hear Frankie gasp behind me.
She must have followed me outside. I was so distracted with getting away from her before I bit her and bent her over the nearest surface that I wasn’t paying attention to if she had followed me outside.
My bear snarls, and I force him to give me back control. I shift back and start pulling my clothes back on.
