“Shit, shit, shit,” I mumble as I dress.

I didn’t want to tell her about shifters and all of this right now. With the men after her being in town, adding this to her plate is probably the last thing she needs right now.

Now we have to tell her,my bear tells me. He doesn’t seem that upset about her seeing us. In fact, I think that he’s actually glad that she saw.

“What happens if this doesn’t go well?” I ask him. “She could reject us. She could freak out and try to leave us, and then she’s in even more danger.”

He stops gloating inside of me then, and I sigh.

What are we going to do?

We can’t let her leave,my bear reminds me, and I roll my eyes.

I know that, but forcing her to stay if she wants to leave isn’t going to make her fall in love with us. We might only be pushing her away.

My bear howls inside me, and I take a deep breath as I head up to the back door. I try the knob and realize it’s locked.

That’s not a great sign…

I kick over the rock by the steps and grab the spare key. I unlock the door and replace the key. The house is quiet, and I head for the stairs, taking them two at a time until I reach the second floor.

Her bedroom door is closed, and I take a deep breath before I knock. I can hear her moving around in there. My bear and I both are panicking by the time the door finally swings open.

“Frankie,” I breathe when I see her.

She looks pale, and I hate that I’ve scared her.

“Can we talk?” I ask her.

My bear is back to pacing inside me, and I try to ignore him and his worry as I focus on my mate.

“I guess so,” she says, opening the door wider for me.

I follow her into the guest room, and my bear takes a deep breath, inhaling her sweet scent.

She should be sleeping in our room,my bear tells me.Her scent should be all over us and our things.

Frankie takes a seat on the bed, and I hover over her. There’s not a lot of furniture in my house, just the essentials really, and the only place to sit in the guest room is the bed. I decide to stand, and I lean against the wall next to her.

I have no idea how to go about this. I wasn’t planning on talking to her about shifters, fated mates, and her being mine until this mess with the men after her was sorted. I guess there’sno point in beating around the bush now. She’s already seen my bear, so what would be the point?

“So… you saw me,” I start. “Or my bear.”

“Yeah,” she says slowly.

“I’m guessing that you have questions.”

“I do… or I did. I talked to Cameron. I was going to leave,” she tells me, and my bear roars.

She can’t leave! He growls at me.

Working on it!I snap back at him.

“What did she say?”

“She told me that there are a lot of… shifters,” she says tentatively, and I nod. “There are a lot of them here. That it’s a whole, um, pack.”

She’s stumbling over the words a bit, and I can see that she’s still trying to wrap her head around all of this.
