I had my fingers crossed that once the hotshot lawyer started working with the victims, they’d be able to come up with something.

“Do you want to try on some of your new clothes? Give me a fashion show?”

“I can’t keep them all,” I insisted faintly as he kissed down my neck.

“Don’t you like them?”

“What? Of course I do…that’s not the point. It’s too much.” It was hard to concentrate on anything when Beckett’s hands were sliding around my hips and pulling me against his hard body.

“Not to me, it isn’t. We were on a date. It’s totally normal to pick up a little something to give to your date.”

I burst out laughing at that. “Only you would compare something you might get your date, like a bunch of gas station flowers, to an entire wardrobe of designer clothes. You’re absolutely crazy and have no concept of reality and…” I trailed off as Beckett’s fingers reached between my legs, stealing my thoughts.

“And you love me,” he finished for me.

“And I love you,” I repeated.

He slid his hand against the front of my panties, one finger hooking the material aside. “You’re keeping the clothes.”

“I’ll think about it.”

“You’ll keep them and everything else I give you. You’ve changed my life, Eve. It’s only right I change yours, too.”

I bit down a gasp as his thick fingers slid through my folds. I was still wet from being fucked before, but I was ready to go again, and so was he, by the feel of his cock thickening against my back. “You really think you haven’t already? I’m the girl who never belonged?—”

“That’s not true,” he interrupted. “Never forget…youdobelong. You belong to me, and you always have. Even from the start. You belong to me, and we belong together. End of story.”

He gripped my hair in a tight grasp and twisted my head so he could reach my lips, kissing me hard. With my head imprisoned in his tight grip and his fingers fucking gently inside me, I felt overwhelmed by this man. Possessed. Cherished. Belonging, finally. Right where I was meant to be.

“Now, hold on, Tiny, I’m going to fuck you against this glass, so the world can see.”

Epilogue

EVE

Miller’s Pondin December was frozen solid and perfect for ice skating. I’d been going there with Asher since we were little. It was where he’d taught me how to skate.

Today, it was teeming with people. It felt like all the local kids were having a turn on the ice, falling and laughing, generally being cute. I had been skating with Lily and Isabelle. We were teaching Isabelle how to skate, and so far, she was like a baby deer on the ice, trying to get her feet under her but falling nonstop.

By the time we’d finished, I was exhausted but happy. We’d gotten some news the day before about the case that had haunted HHU. Professor Jefferies wasn’t going to trial. Ronan Black, the intimidating attorney who had offered to represent the victims pro bono, had called with the news that Jefferies had hanged himself in his cell overnight. Black hadn’t sounded the least bit sorry about that, and honestly, I wasn’t either. Sometimes karma really did come through. Well, Karma, orRonan Black Esq. was even more dangerous than he looked, which was really saying something.

It started to snow as we headed away from the pond. Lily was driving us all back to campus. We climbed the hill to the parking lot, and I spied a familiar-looking car waiting for me.

“I guess we’ll see you back at the dorms,” Isabelle grinned at me.

I waved bye to them and went to the idling car.

The heater was blasting inside, and the hot air and heated seats felt decadent after hours out on the pond. Beckett pulled me close as soon as I sat down.

“You didn’t have to pick me up.”

“I missed you.”

“I saw you this morning,” I protested mildly.

“Exactly, hours and hours ago.” Beckett pulled out and headed into town.

“How was therapy?” I asked him.
