“No, I definitely want to,” Belle replied.

“If you’re not ready, that’s okay.”

“I’m ready. I mean, I’m… I want to make sure we don’t do something too fast.”

“Is it fast?” Chandler asked. “It doesn’t feel fast to me. Belle, it feels like this was supposed to happen all along.”

“My ass does hurt,” Belle told her with a smile.

Then, she stood and held out her hand. Chandler tried to remove herself from the bench without looking too awkward and took it. They walked out of the locker room together and back into the SUV. This time, though, Chandler held on to Belle’s hand, keeping it in her lap with their fingers entwined. Her heart was pounding. Her foot was tapping rapidly against the floor of the car. She couldn’t meet Belle’s eyes, even though she’d just stared into them on and off while they’d made out in the locker room. She was nervous. Not just nervous, but incredibly nervous.

Chandler knew she wanted this. She had since she saw Belle again for the first time. Belle’s short, dyed hair was longer now, below her ears, and was devoid of the fake color. It went with her blue eyes better this way and framed her face better now, too. It was also so soft; Chandler knew that now because she’d just been running her fingers through it and wanted to do it again.

“Thanks,” Belle said to the driver when he pulled up to her place.

She got out of the car first and held out her hand for Chandler to take again. Belle helped her out and closed the door behind them. They walked around the back and up the stairs in silence, and Chandler hoped the awkwardness of these moments wouldn’t stop them from doing what they both obviously wanted to do once inside.

“So, I have one bottle of wine here. It’s red, so it doesn’t need to be refrigerated,” Belle began the moment the front door was closed. “I have no idea if it’s any good or not, and I don’t have wineglasses – or a corkscrew, now that I think about it – but–”

“You have wine but no corkscrew?”

“Someone gave me the wine. And I don’t tend to drink much unless I’m out with the guys, so I have a beer opener somewhere in case I decide to buy a six-pack or something, but not a corkscrew, no.” She opened a cabinet and pulled down a bottle of red. “It’s merlot. Is that good?”

“Depends on the merlot,” Chandler replied, feeling a little of her confidence coming back now that Belle’s nervousness was clear. She moved in behind Belle and wrapped her arms around her body, kissing her neck. “But I don’t need wine, Belle; good or bad. Also, that bottle has dust on it.”

“Yeah, sorry,” Belle replied and pushed it back on the counter. “I think I only have water and coffee. Oh, shit… The one I made earlier.” She pulled out of Chandler’s arms and walked along the counter to where a cup of old coffee sat in front of the pod-style coffee maker. “I can throw this out and make us coffee. I still don’t have milk, though. Shit.”

“Babe?”

Belle turned around at that and gave Chandler a little smile.

“Yeah, I just called you ‘babe.’”

“I liked it,” Belle said.

“Good.” Chandler moved her arms around Belle’s neck and added, “I don’t need water, wine, or coffee. I just need you.”

“You mean sex.”

“I mean you,” she said with a little laugh. “And yes, that, but also just you.”

“You have no idea how long I’ve wanted this, Chandler. I don’t want to screw it up.” Belle wrapped her arms around Chandler’s waist.

“You’re not screwing anything up. And I’ve wanted this for a long time, too.”

“You have?”

“I told you that I thought about you all the time. That was true, Belle. I used to wonder what would’ve happened had we not gotten interrupted. I could see us kissing in corners, keeping it a secret; going out as friends to everyone else but as something more to the two of us; doing other things.”

“Other things?”

“Well, eventually, I started thinking about us doing what we’re planning on doing tonight.”

“You thought about us having sex?”

“Yes. A lot.”

“Me too.” Belle laughed.
