“You can tell him. I wanted you both to know, anyway.”

“Tell him that you’re dating a woman?”

“Yeah. And that I’m gay.” Chandler smiled again over at Belle. “And that I’m happy.”

She hung up then, tossed the phone aside, and rolled on top of Belle quickly. Belle laughed, and Chandler pulled off her shirt.

“Um… I thought–”

“Tonight is probably the last time I’ll skate competitively, and I’m okay with that. I want to finally live my life and do what I want to do. And right now, I want to be with you.”

“You can still make the team, Chandler.”

“I won’t. We both know that. I’ve known it all along, really. It’s just been easier to say out loud that there’s hope. Now, though, I’m ready to admit it, and I really am okay, Belle.” She lifted Belle’s shirt, revealing her breasts. “I want to spend the morning making love.”

“Best way to spend any morning, in my opinion,” Belle replied and pulled her shirt the rest of the way off. “Tell me what you were dreaming about before?”

“You woke me up by going down on me.”

“Ah…” Belle pulled at the waistband of Chandler’s sweats. “Well, you’re already awake… But if you take those off, you can maybe come up here, and I can do that for you.” She placed her index finger on her bottom lip.

“One thing first.”

“What?”

Chandler lowered herself down and kissed her girlfriend good morning.

???

“Think we’re going to get laughed out of here as two girls skating to Taylor Swift?” Belle asked as she took Chandler’s hand on the ice.

“I don’t care. Do you?”

“Not even a little bit,” Belle replied.

They stopped at center ice and took their starting positions. Chandler smiled softly, taking in her girlfriend as she thought about their music choice, which had been one they’d settled on together. It summarized their relationship in a way, without either of them realizing it when they’d made their choice. Their music started off with Enchanted, which was how Chandler remembered feeling when she’d met Belle for the first time. The whole year of their friendship had been like that for her, even though they hadn’t been able to spend much time together outside of skating.

The music shifted into exile, which, to her, was about how they’d gone their separate ways after what had happened, and during this part of the performance, they skated separately. Chandler did a jump sequence and a triple Axel during this time. Belle did a combination, a spin, and it ended with her attempting a quadruple Axel, which was the most difficult move in figure skating. They’d talked about it over and over again since Belle had been worried that if she didn’t land it, they’d score poorly, and that would hurt Chandler’s chances, but Chandler had reminded her again just that day that she didn’t care. She wanted them to have this one skate together and leave it all out on the ice. So, when Chandler turned and held her arms out toward Belle as the woman skated away from her, she watched. Belle sped up and got enough air to make her body turn and turn, and eventually, she landed back on the ice. Chandler’s ears focused on the sound of the people cheering because everyone knew how hard that was, and Belle had just pulled it off.

Wildest Dreams was next, and they were finding their way back together then. They skated smoothly, with each of them landing their Lutz. Finally, the last song that ended their program was This Love. At first, Wildest Dreams was supposed to be the final song, but Belle had asked for this one to be included at the end, and Chandler knew why. They’d both been waiting to say it, probably wondering when the other would. As they spun in tight circles and stood back up, though, letting the spins end naturally, Chandler knew she wouldn’t have to wait long.

They ended up together on the ice, with her arms around Belle’s neck, and Belle’s around her waist. The song ended with a whimper, and they smiled at each other as applause rang out around them.

“I love you,” she said.

Belle looked surprised for a second, but then she shook her head a little as if in disbelief.

“I wanted to say it first.”

“Too bad,” Chandler teased. “And I don’t care who knows now. Come here.” She put her hands on the back of Belle’s neck, pulled her in, and kissed her right there, in the middle of the ice.

From that moment on, Chandler didn’t hear the crowd anymore. She could only feel Belle around her, making her feel like she’d never be alone again. When they pulled out of the kiss, she checked Belle’s dazed expression.

“I love you, too,” Belle said after her senses came back to her. “And I wonder how many complaints the network is going to get for airing a girl-on-girl kiss.”

“Don’t care,” Chandler stated and kissed her quickly again. “I’m living my life now.”

The crowd was cheering wildly as they skated off the ice, covered their skates, and took their seats in the box. Chandler turned to Belle and took both of her hands in her own.
