“Yeah, you did,” Catalina stated.

Chandler’s eyes went wide, and she looked over to the bleachers, where her sister was standing.

“The door was unlocked, so I let myself in.”

“How did you know I was here?”

“I called. I texted. You didn’t reply.” Catalina walked out onto the ice. “I thought you’d gotten kidnapped on your run. Then, I tracked your phone.”

“Well, that’s creepy,” Belle muttered.

“It told me that you were here, so I got in a car and found a familiar SUV in the parking lot. What’s going on here, little sister?”

“Belle and I were just skating before we had to go.”

“Really? So, why the lie about the run? You almost had me calling the cops.”

“Sorry. I lost track of time.”

“Hi, I’m Cat.” Her sister waved at Belle, who was behind Chandler.

“Belle,” Belle replied and waved back unenthusiastically. “And I should get to work.”

“Just hold on a second.” Catalina held up her hand. “You two look good together.”

“What?” Chandler asked.

“On the ice; you have good chemistry. I actually got here about five minutes ago. You didn’t even notice me. And you can skate.” She pointed at Belle.

“Yeah, I can,” Belle said confidently and crossed her arms over her chest.

“You should come back with us.”

“Sorry?”

“Home. Come back with us.”

“Cat, hold on,” Chandler told her, skating toward her sister. “You said this was a bad idea.”

“I’m still not sure it’s a good one, but it might be worth pursuing, even if it’s just as a practice partner until Walker is back. If he can come back in time, that is.”

“Really?”

“Hi; I haven’t agreed to do any of that.” Belle skated over to them. “And I have to get back to work. This place needs to be open when the players get here.”

“The front door is unlocked. I’m sure even hockey players can open a door for themselves,” Catalina said.

“Hey!” Belle replied defensively. “I’m a hockey player.”

“No, you’re a figure skater. Well, you will be when I get done with you.”

“Cat, Belle and I need to talk. She only agreed to skate with me this morning,” Chandler added and put her hand on Belle’s shoulder. “Why don’t you wait in the car so we can go back to the hotel and get our stuff? We’re going to miss our flight.”

Catalina looked Belle over once more and said, “Fine. But this might actually work.”

“Your sister is a real piece of work,” Belle spoke when Catalina was near the door.

“Tell me about it,” Chandler replied. “Look, I have to go, or we really will miss our flight. And I know you need to get to work. I’m sorry that I lost track of time. I don’t want you to think I don’t respect your job or something. Can I give you my number? If you change your mind about wanting to give this a shot, you could call me.”
