It makes Zander laugh, breaking the kiss before he pulls me against him and points forward. I catch onto the massive golden arch decorated with plentiful roses, making the entry point look more like a work of art than a university entryway.

“There it is,” Zander dramatically cheers.

I meet his eyes of twinkling excitement, noticing how his red eyes are filled with pure joy.

Like a kid experiencing their first day of school.

“We’re officially here, Dolcezza. Welcome to Leighton Royals University.”

I wonder if this is where my downfall began.

COURTYARD OF DANGEROUS COMPETITION

“So we’re allowed to carry one weapon with us at all times, but if we use the weapon and potentially kill someone, we’ll go to jail,” I summarize as we’re a corridor away from the courtyard.

“Unless you cover it up,” Zander sweetly inclines. “If you need me to hide a body, just say the word, Dolcezza. That’s my specialty.”

“I thought it was grinding Domino’s nerves?” I can’t help but comment, especially after the drive here that caused the current ‘silent treatment’ Domino has activated as some sort of retribution.

“Nah, that’s your job,” Zander declares and squeezes my hand. “I just support everything you do because that’s what a Ruthless King does. Support his Maiden in making other lives a living hell when provoked.”

“Like the warning hiss a viper makes before it strikes,” Ares comments, walking on my left side while Zander is on my right.

Domino is ignoring all of us as he boldly walks in front of our group. That must be the cause of the magnitude of stares, gasps, and whispers throughout every hall, office, and classroom we’ve been to thus far on this “tour.”

It’s only a tour to me because I’ve never been on this prestigious campus full of rich heirs. To be honest, it’s hard to concentrate on the ancient architecture of beauty surrounding us when there are so many students with their ring lights, flashing camera lights, and other technology used to make them look like glamorous superstars on their first day at Leighton Royals University.

You can’t look anywhere and not catch stunning women in their extra short uniform shirts, striking a pose—whether selfie or full-on production team—while half the men are either talking shit or catcalling the girls they hope to get a chance with by the end of the day.

Despite the mandatory uniform dress code, it’s clear many don’t follow it. The rebellious ones are wearing their high-end brands from the usual Louis Vuitton to Versace ensembles, which are beginning to look ‘low class’ compared to others sporting Hermes ‘everything’ for the sake of looking like millionaires.

It’s only now that I’m noticing my uniform color pattern of red, blue, and black matches Domino’s set. Ares kept his orange, yellow, and black uniform ensemble, and Zander’s is purple, green, and black. All of us still carry the grey plaid mix in our uniformed attires, but the striking lines of color and interior shades of silk prove that they’re different for some odd reason.

I hold that thought to ask about it, but I want to wrap up the previous commentary.

“Well, good thing you guys allowed me to have a knife instead of a gun.”

“Why is that, Sweet Canary?” Ares inquires while I notice how he’s scanning our surroundings with his eyes. It’s intriguing to watch, especially when he’s normally so calm and relaxed.

He really looks like Warren right now.

“When I have the intention of pulling the trigger of a gun, I never miss,” I reply casually, as though we’re not openly talking about weapons and the idea of using them to cause harm.

In a form of protection, of course.

“Huh?” Zander comments, as if he wasn’t listening to what I said.Only he was.“What do you mean you don’t miss?”

“She said ‘never’ misses,” Ares further emphasizes my words by repeating the essential word “never.”

“I meant it,” I confess without a hint of doubt. “I don’t miss when I pull the trigger of a gun. If I do, that means I wish for the target to survive for my own selfish reasons,” I summarize the best I can.

“Bullshit,” Domino finally blesses us with a word.

Of course, his first commentary has to be an insult my way.
