“You know that breaking a mate bond is incredibly dangerous and painful,” I hiss under my breath, terror streaking through me.

“Luckily, you’re very young and powerful. I’m sure you’ll survive. But if you don’t, I’ll find another.”

“How very encouraging,” I mutter dryly.

“Settle in. Two more days and our future will be secure. Until then, rest up. You’ll need all your strength.”

I sigh and lean my head back on the wall, eyeing the cell carefully. Surely, there has to be some way out.

But I’m drawing a blank and my heart flutters in my chest as I picture the giant man who holds the other piece of my soul. I press on my heart and tears sting my eyes.

I don’t want to lose him and it’s too late now. If the crazy warlock out there has his way, in two days I’ll be tied to him for the rest of my life.

If only Leo could find me. I’d do anything to see him now.

CHAPTER 7

Leo

I’ve searched and there’s only one Trinity Strega. Youngest sister with two older sisters. Alma and Corazon. Heart and soul and trinity.

Their mother must have been quite something. To have three such strong women as her daughters.

Cora is a blond beauty and Alma has long, gorgeous chocolate-brown curls.

But neither of them has the subtle sexiness of Trinity. She draws my eye no matter who she’s with. I’ve seen pictures of her in crowds of people, opening her new store and just taking part in Magic’s social scene. Volunteering at the library with children at Halloween.

She’s perfectly gorgeous no matter where she is. I can’t wait to see her again. I just hope that I can say more than the occasional grunt and growl like a damn animal.

I blush when I picture what she must have been thinking at our initial meeting. She must have thought I was an overgrown beast. Around her, I felt like one. All coherent thought just vacated my brain and all I could do was picture her under me, her lips bruised from my kisses, her body marked by my hands as she tore strips out of my back with her nails and I drove my aching cock deep inside her.

I growl under my breath and fight the urge to grab my dick and yank hard at its aching length. I can almost hear her screams as we both detonate like bombs, her voluptuous body writhing under me, ivory skin glowing with sweat and her long ebony hair tangled around my fists.

Jesus! I need to get myself under control.

I am an animal. I stop outside the door and my brow puckers when I see that the shop is still closed. The sign said half an hour but that was hours ago.

I pull at the door and my heart sinks when it opens. Something feels wrong.

I stalk inside and immediately it’s like she’s right here with me. I can feel her energy, her heart all around me in this store. This is her space. Her love.

But right in front of the register there’s a dark spot on the floor and when I bend down to rub at it, I hiss and pull my hand back like it’s burned me.

Something or someone with dark, evil, twisted intentions stood here not that long ago. When I touched the wood, I could sense his desires, his thoughts.

His target.

Trinity. He’s after Trinity. He wants her. Needs her for some reason and he took her. I can feel her fear and then nothing right here.

He took my mate and he wants her. A snarl rumbles out of my chest and rips out of my mouth.

Nobody is taking my mate away from me. Especially not this asshole.

But I need help and if there’s one thing that’s around me in Magic, it’s help.

I stalk down to the Sheriff’s office and inside. A large, well-built man with bulging muscles in the khaki uniform of Magic pushes his tan cowboy hat off his eyes and sits up lazily. His golden eyes flash when they see me and he takes a big gulp of air in that makes him growl.

“I don’t know what you’re doing here, but something tells me you’re bringing trouble.”
