“It’s actually pretty nice. I like having him around.”
“Does that mean we’re gonna stop being neighbors soon?”
I stared at him, utterly confused for a moment. “I just moved in.”
“Yeah, and now you’re discovering the joys of living with your cutie pie.”
I rolled my eyes. “Luca and I are not moving in together.”
“Why not?” Auggie asked, leaning against his locker, his arms crossed over his chest.
“Because we’re not there yet.”
“I like that answer a lot better than other ones you could’ve given.” Auggie beamed at me. “I’ve got my housewarming present all picked out for you when you change your mind.”
Luca might be the king of not pushing, but Auggie was his opposite. He was lucky I adored him.
“Shut up. Said with love.”
Arthur appeared in the corner of my vision. “Walter said all of the paperwork is officially done. Once I get you to confirm that, I can get him reinstated.”
“I’ll check with my sister,” I promised.
“He also said he threw in a bonus for good measure and had Kevin recant his allegations against you. I’m not sure what that’s all about, but I’m assuming you’ll know?”
“Oh my god, really?! Kevin told my old day job I was harassing him and that’s why he asked to be transferred to Chicago. I’m not planning on ever going back to that job, but I’m still glad Walter was able to clean that up. I can’t thank you enough for helping me with all this.”
“You’re a good kid, Luna. You don’t have to thank me for taking care of you where I can.”
I messaged Stella since she would still be awake for a bit.
Luna:
Everything good on your end with the Rodney situation?
Stella:
Lawyer says yes
We got all the paperwork this morning and Rodney video-called the girls from the airport
Luna:
I’m still hoping a moose tramples him
Stella:
That’s too generous
I’m hoping for a flock of geese to take him out
Much slower that way
I burst out laughing at the mental image Stella’s words generated.
