Miranda burst out laughing, playfully nudging Nicky. “I like your friends. They’re fun.”

Miranda was definitely cute enough that I’d have no problem finding her someone. “Does that mean we’re helping you?”

“I haven’t done a bar hook-up since my early twenties. I’m pretty sure I’m a little too rusty for it.”

“Nonsense!” I slapped my hands on the table. “We will unrust you with some quality hot people. What’s your preference?”

Nicky looked like she was dying for this information. The girl needed to learn to be more nosy. Some people needed you to pry info out. Either that or you needed to spill your guts first so they got comfy, but Nicky wasn’t exactly a guts-spiller, so we’d have to settle for prying tonight.

“I’m an equal opportunist,” Miranda replied. “My last boyfriend was an omega, but I’m open to anything.”

“Can I bother you with some questions about that?” Nicky asked.

Now we were getting down to business. I bounced in my seat. “Nicky‘s got an omega boy on tap.”

Allie and I could give her tons of information about dating an omega, but only from the omega side of things. It would be good for Nicky to have another beta with omega experience.

“Sure.” Miranda sipped her drink. “What do you wanna know?”

“Did you share a heat with him?” Nicky looked entirely enraptured, ready to inhale every crumb of information Miranda could provide.

“Yep, though just the one before we split. He hired a heat helper because I was not even close to being in shape enough to keep up with that.”

Her words settled into me with a comforting warmth. My heat was still a few months away, and once or twice I had considered what it might be like to share one with Luca. It would probably be way too much for him to handle on his own. It was too early to broach the topic, but maybe when the time came, we could hire a heat helper to take over when Luca needed rest. I had definitely had worse ideas.

Eventually I dragged us back onto happier topics so Nicky could stew on the new information she’d gotten from Miranda.

I scanned the occupants of the bar, my gaze latching onto an exquisite alpha with smooth brown skin and a halo of curls, dressed in red sequins. I tapped Miranda on the arm. “There. Tall, dark, and gorgeous.”

“Oh my god! Yes, please.” Miranda laughed. “She’s way too pretty.”

Before she could protest, I practically sprinted across the dance floor and skated to a stop next to the woman. She didn’t take much convincing and soon enough I got Miranda dancing with the gorgeous alpha.

We held back our giggles long enough for the two of them to get onto the dance floor.

“Luna, I swear, you have some kind of magic power.” Nicky beamed at me.

“Leave no friend unlaid is my philosophy. Miranda made me like her enough that the policy now applies to her.”

“So when do Luna and I get to meet your pack?” Meg asked. “Allie’s been feeling way too special being the only one who’s met them.”

Nicky’s expression dropped immediately. At least I hadn’t been the one to bring the mood down. “Oh, maybe next month, if they all still like me by then.”

“Are you anticipating them not liking you soon?” Meg asked.

“No, no, no.” Allie tapped the table. “We’re not talking about the pack tonight; we are distracting Nicky from being sad.”

I didn’t point out that we could do both. I was curious about the people who had Nicky in their thrall. But since we were switching gears, I rolled with it.

Eventually, my alarm went off on my phone. I had hooked up Miranda, distracted Nicky, and gotten some much-needed time with my girls, but duty called. Those dollars weren’t gonna make themselves. I excused myself, giving everyone a hug goodbye before heading over to work.

Auggie was getting off stage when I arrived. “Don’t you look good enough to eat? Did you have fun tonight?”

“I really did. And I’m feeling back to one-hundred-percent after last weekend.”

“Good.” Auggie swung his arm around my shoulders and kissed the top of my head. “You smell like lemon drops.”

“Not surprising considering I had a fair few of them tonight.”
