Page 26 of Damaged Gods

Despite this being a job, a mission if you like, kissing Melissa is more fun than I thought it would be. She’s certainly one of the most beautiful women I have ever met. Her blonde curls feel luxurious in my hand. Soft and like pure silk against my skin. Her green eyes are intense and framed by the longest darkest lashes and her plump red lips taste of sweet ruin. Her figure is slight, but her curves are insane, and it will be no hardship taking a piece of her ass later on tonight.

I am prepared to break my own rule for her and yet there is still something holding me back. It’s why I brought her here, instead of the apartment I share with my brother when we are in town. It’s why I took her to my trailer, to keep this all business. She is business and I must remind myself of that and riding out here to a place I wouldn’t walk my dog was designed to keep my head firmly in the game.

As I kiss her, the pain hits me hard, a sharp edge of flint that slices against my heart. I try so hard to work around it. To live without the memories but the memories are what give me the strength to open my eyes every day.

Melissa Remington is another step toward what I want the most, and I will not let her distract me from my reason for being here in the first place.

So, I pull back and take in the damaged air of the sleazy bar to remind me exactly what this is.

She stares back at me with swollen lips and desire lit eyes and the ache in my crotch reminds me I need to get laid. Surely one night would be reward enough. She wants it, my cock definitely wants it, but my heart has questions.

I grab the rag off the bar and leaning forward, wipe off her seat and point to it.

“There you go, princess.”

Her eyes cloud with disappointment, but she hops on the stool, and I hand her the beer that I expect she doesn’t even like.

“Here’s to walking on the wild side.”

I raise my glass to hers and laugh as she takes a sip and wrinkles her nose in disgust.

“You like this?” Her eyes are wide as she shudders, and I nod. “Not everything in life is champagne and roses, baby. Occasionally, you need to sample something that reminds you of that.”

“If you say so.” She rolls her eyes and sets the glass down and I stare at it pointedly.

“Drink it.”

Her eyes widen as I drain half my glass and throw a challenge in my eyes that she obviously notices because she grins seductively and wraps her manicured fingers around the glass and chugs it back as if it’s water, slamming the glass on the table with a gleam of triumph in her eyes.

Her shiver of revulsion makes me laugh out loud as I toss the rest of my beer back and nod to the dance floor. At least I think that’s what it’s supposed to be.

A few couples are getting it on in full view of the crowd’s leering eyes and I decide to join them.

Melissa stares around with huge eyes at the couple beside us, who are openly making out as they grind their bodies together and I slide my large hand around her waist and pull her into me.

As we sway in time to the music, my cock throbs as it senses victory as her body grinds against mine.

The thumping music and the stench of deprivation is a powerful aphrodisiac and the way she is gripping me hard tells me she’s of the same mind as me.

I turn and grip her chin, pulling it up to mine and leaning down take a leisurely swipe of her tongue, tangling it in mine as the heat between us intensifies.

We kiss with a desperation I can no longer ignore. My cock is hard against her, and it would be so easy to push aside the past and concentrate on the future instead.

She is a siren, a goddess sent to distract me from my path and right in this moment, I am tempted.

A disturbance brings me back to my senses and I stare past her, my tongue still clashing with hers, and notice a brawl in the center of the room. It’s not uncommon in places like this, but it’s the men who are causing it that make me pay attention.

I know those men.

I watch as they drag some guy from his table and force him to the door. He’s obviously a fool because he kicks out and protests, as if anyone here is going to help him.

I watch as one of them presses a gun in his back and the other two close around him, blocking out his escape. They push through the door and my attention turns to the woman with him, who is staring in confusion as her date makes a swift departure.

As the door closes, a gunshot is barely heard above the music and everyone around us carries on as if nothing happened at all. The woman shrugs and grabs her glass, chucking the contents back as she stares moodily around the room.

Our eyes connect and I immediately note the interest in hers and so I pull away from Melissa and nod toward the restroom.

The woman stands and heads right there and I whisper to Melissa, “Sorry, baby. Call of nature. Grab a seat, I won’t be long.”
