“You can… and you will.” My hand slides between our bodies once again, rubbing gently over her clit. I can feel her body tense underneath me before she starts to quiver.

“Fuuuuuuck!” she screams into my shoulder. I give her three or four more pumps before I follow her off the ledge, coming in waves inside of her.

Chapter 57

I wake up to a dozen texts from my sister. They consist of everything from continued congratulations to probing for details about the wedding. I get the feeling she’s going to lose her mind when she hears what Joey suggested. I send her one text in reply:

Me: Let’s get lunch today and I’ll tell you everything. We also need to get passports ?

I’m about to get up when I feel Joey’s massive arm pulling me back down into bed.

“Good morning, Angel,” his sleep-riddled voice groans in my ear. “Where are you going?”

“Well, I don’t know if you’ve heard, but my crazy fiancé wants to get married in Tuscany next month, so there’s much to do between now and then.” I start to ramble like a madwoman before Joey cuts me off with a kiss.

“Your crazy fiancé will handle the travel planning. You just worry about getting a dress and a passport, okay?” He tucks my hair behind my ear in a calming fashion.

I jump up off the bed in a frenzy. “How are you so calm about this?! Like, seriously — you’re talking about traveling to another country in a month like we’re taking a day trip to Chicago!” I throw my arms around, positive that I look like an insane person babbling nonsense, while Joey just laughs on the bed.

“An evil genius does not reveal his wicked ways,” he smirks. “At least not right away.”

“So, let me get this straight — you’re going to handle everything? The flight, hotels, ceremony details and the honeymoon?” I raise an eyebrow at him suspiciously. “No offense, babe, but you’re not exactly a travel agent or a wedding planner.”

Joey chuckles at my comment before he gets out of bed and saunters over to me. The comfort I feel when he wraps his arms around me sends a warmth through my entire body.

“Have I ever let you down before, Angel?” I shake my head slowly in response. “Then trust me. Everything will be perfect.”

I am a planner, through and through. So to let Joey plan a destination wedding and our honeymoon, without any input from me, is nerve-wracking, to say the least. I trust him with my life, and I know he would never do anything to disappoint me, but the metaphorical act of letting go of the reins is proving to be more difficult than I’d expected.

“I’m sorry — this mimosa must be going to my head faster than I realized, because I could’ve sworn you just said Joey wants to get married in freaking Italy!” Savannah shouts in the middle of the crowded restaurant.

I shake my head and laugh to myself. “Nope, that is indeed what I said. And thank you, by the way, for sharing my initial shock. I thought I was crazy for the way I reacted. He’s been unusually calm and cavalier about this whole thing.”

“I guess I’m lucky I followed Dad’s financial advice of putting away twenty-percent of our income.” She winks at me as she speaks.

“So does this mean you’re in?” An excited squeal escapes my mouth as I speak.

“Fuck yeah, I’m in! Who else is going to be your maid of honor?!” Savannah shoots up out of her seat and runs around the table to hug me. “I love you, big sister, and I’m so happy for you.”

We decide that dress shopping needs to wait until tomorrow, so our mother can be there with us. Even if she’s not going to be there for the ceremony — which I’m sure I’m going to get a fucking earful for — she should still be a part of the wedding dress shopping experience.

Instead, we spend the day making sure we have everything we need to apply for our passports and get rush processing to have them in time for the trip. This whole thing is still so surreal to me.

Chapter 58

I walk into the shop and breathe in the sight of the place that has been my lifeline for the past ten years. Between the money paid out by the insurance company for the vandalism, and the settlement we received from our lawsuit against Grant, my shop was set up with all new equipment.

I’m scrolling through the appointments on the schedule for today when I hear Frankie call out from the garage.

“So what’s this I hear about a cheesy-as-fuck proposal last night?” He laughs to himself.

“You say cheesy, I say fucking epic,” I call back. “She was surprised and she loved it — that’s all that matters to me.” Some would say my love for Kelsey has turned me into a big softie, but I say that she brings out the best parts of me.

“Yeah, yeah, whatever you say. So, when’s the wedding?”

“Christmas… in Italy. You’ll be my best man, right?” I raise my eyebrows in anticipation, waiting for the freak-out that I’d gotten from Kelsey last night.

“Sure, I’m in,” he says casually.
