Well, that wasn’t true. I knew the answer to both of those things. I just didn’t know if doing what I wanted was the right choice. If it would screw up everything in my peaceful, otherwise-happy life, it wasn’t worth it. If I thought for one second that truly nothing would change between us if I acted on the growing feelings inside me, I’d take the opportunity to explore them.

Levi touched my knee again. “You know, it’s okay, whatever you’re thinking. Whatever you’re feeling. I’m not going to be mad or make it weird between us or anything like that. We can keep it the way it has been, if you want. Nothing has to change.”

A dam broke inside me, my desire and curiosity and raw need spilling out. I leaned forward and pressed a closed-mouth kiss to Levi’s mouth, just to see how it would feel. When our lips touched, my body lit up, the aching need I’d been feeling for days turning to raw electricity. He exhaled sharply through his nose in surprise and I pulled away as quickly as I’d leaned in, inhaling deeply and letting it out slowly. When I looked at Levi again, the gentle smile on his face calmed me, let me know I hadn’t crossed a line too badly.

“Is that what you were dreaming about?”

“That was part of it.”

He smirked a little. “I’d be curious to know what else there was.”

“You’re not mad?”

His gaze softened and his smirk turned to a gentle smile. “Not at all. I’d be lying if I didn’t confess I’ve been wanting to do that since the wedding.”

My eyebrows shot up. “You have?”

His tone dropped to a quieter one, his blue gaze not breaking contact with mine. “I’ve been thinking a lot about that kiss.”

“Me too,” I admitted. “A lot.” My cock thickened in my jeans and I shifted, realizing just how much I’d been thinking about that kiss.

“You know, we can always give this a try. If it doesn’t work out, I’m perfectly capable of going about being business partners again. We can even have Grayson draw up new papers, if you’re worried. I’m not going to back out of the deal, if that’s what you’re afraid of.”

I nodded wordlessly. I didn’t know how to tell him that while yes, I’d considered the deal, I was more worried about coming to terms with the fact that I was attracted to a man for the first time in my life rather than losing the business deal. We’d signed contracts to protect both of us from that, at least.

“If you’re okay with it, I’d like to kiss you again,” Levi murmured.

My heart thudded a few times and I nodded again. “I’d like that, too.” The way he smiled when I spoke lit up my insides, making me ache for him once again.

Levi reached over and placed his broad hand on my neck, cradling my face tenderly before leaning in. I let my eyes flutter closed and sighed as our lips touched again. After a moment, he parted his and his tongue slid out, teasing my mouth open. I opened for him and the next thing I knew, we were kissing, really kissing.

Our tongues teased together in a slow dance and as they did, my hand went to his waist and fisted in the t-shirt he was wearing. The way his scruffy beard scratched my chin and cheeks went straight to my groin, and his strong hand held me close, making me hard for him almost immediately. We kissed for several long moments before he pulled away, both of us breathing heavily. I had to fight the urge to whimper in disappointment that it was over so soon.

“How do you feel?”

I didn’t answer for a moment. “I… I’m not quite sure.” How was I supposed to tell him the truth?

He chuckled and released me, leaning back in his seat. “Do you need time to think about it?”

I shifted in my seat in a vain attempt to conceal my erection and as I glanced down, I noticed Levi was hard, too. Every cell in my body screamed at me that no, I did not need time to think about it, that I knew exactly how I felt and exactly what I wanted. Levi. Levi was what I wanted.

I put my hand on his knee and squeezed. “No, I don’t think I do.”

He didn’t respond right away. “You’re sure?”

“I want to keep doing that.” The words tumbled out of me.

“Is that your answer then?”

I looked away for a moment to compose myself, closing my eyes briefly to drown out all the sensory input. When I opened them, Levi’s blue eyes were watching me carefully.

“I don’t know the words for how I feel,” I said gently. “But I like it. I want more of it. I don’t want to let this feeling go and lose an opportunity that might never come around again. I want to chase it.”

One corner of Levi’s mouth quirked up in a smile. “I think we can manage that.”
