With a sly smile at Cam, Oliver nodded. “Everything’s great. In fact…” He looked at Cam again. “You tell them.”
“We’ve found a surrogate and we’re having a baby,” Cam blurted.
Everyone erupted into cheers and applause and Cam flushed with excitement as Oliver put his arms around Cam, pulling him in for a tight hug. After everyone had gotten a chance to congratulate them with hugs, high fives, or fist bumps, the party went back to the way it had been, a lightness in the air.
Hours later, as we headed home, Soren slid up next to me in the truck while I drove. He leaned his head on my shoulder and hummed contentedly.
“Yeah?”
He nodded. “Yeah. I was just thinking… maybe we should have a baby, too.”
I snapped my head around to look at him. “Are you serious?”
With a smirk, he pulled away and shook his head. “Make a baby. That’s the word I was looking for. Make.”
I laughed and kissed the top of his head quickly. “I don’t know, maybe one day.”
Soren yawned and snuggled close again. “Maybe,” he murmured. “But for now, I’m happy for it to be just us.”
“Me too,” I whispered. “Me too.”
