I held her hand as we walked through the rows of cars in the parking lot. “We should think about getting a membership. I have a feeling we’ll be spending a lot of time here.”

“I’d like that.” Things like this were my favorite things to gift people. A membership or a course provided an experience, something to be remembered. It wasn’t just a trinket that could be set aside. Although I adored the book that Holly had so thoughtfully created for me.

“Have you thought about making a coffee-table book of your creations?”

Holly laughed. “I don’t have nearly the number of pieces that you’ve done. If I published a book, it would only have five pages.”

“But you could talk about your process, how you get your ideas, how you make them, and the materials you need. The pictures could be of you in various states of your work. The ornaments, too. You could go through each step.”

“Maybe.”

I didn’t think she was completely discounting it. There were so many things she could do, and all of them took time and effort. She’d need to focus on one or two things and continue to build on that. But I’d be there for her every step of the way.

Chapter 24

Holly

I spent the last few weeks creating hearts for Sarah and Knox’s wedding and attempting to blow glass into the shape of a bird.

I created several different options of hearts, but Sarah and Knox preferred the smaller ones that could be incorporated into the flowers on the chairs for the ceremony, the centerpieces at the reception, and a few larger ones to hang in the windows to catch the light.

I’d taken a few to the barn to test different lighting, and the effect on most days was breathtaking. I took pictures to show Sarah, and when that didn’t showcase it properly, I invited her to see it.

“These are gorgeous, Holly. I think it might be my favorite thing about the wedding.”

“Your favorite thing about the wedding is supposed to be your fiancé,” Knox teased.

Sarah smiled as she admired the rainbow effect on the floor and walls. “That, too.”

“Your wedding is going to be beautiful no matter what you use for decorations. Everyone can see the love you have for each other.” Ever since I reconnected with Talon, my heart felt fuller.

“That may be true, but I’m in love with your hearts. Have you tried to consign them anywhere?” Sarah asked.

I shook my head. “I’m still trying to make the glass birds.”

Sarah’s forehead wrinkled. “Are you having any luck?”

I shook my head as my stomach knotted. “Not yet. But I’ll figure it out.”

“I wonder if you need to take a step back from it for a while,” Sarah suggested.

“I don’t have time. If I want to get into museums, I need to act quickly.” They wouldn’t care about an ornament that depicted our little inn.

“What about these hearts?” Sarah lifted one, and the light filtered through differently, bathing me in a rainbow.

Sarah’s eyes lit up as she snapped a picture of me and then showed me the image. “I love the effect.”

I chewed my bottom lip as she sent me the picture. “You think they’re good enough?”

Sarah shook her head. “I’m not an expert. Marley could give you a better idea.”

I hadn’t shown them to her because I didn’t think they were special enough. I was fixated on the birds being my big break. If only I could get it right.

Knox shrugged. “Put them in the shop and see what happens.”

“I’ll take a few down later today.”

“How are you and Talon?” Sarah asked.
