He hadn’t bothered to remove his jacket or his tie, but he looked adorably rumpled. I pulled him inside and shut the door. We sat on the floor, shoulder to shoulder. “No matter what happens, I’m here for you.”

“I know you are.”

We interlaced our fingers and stared at the ring.

“I always knew we’d end up here,” Talon said with confidence.

“I think I did, too.”

“It’s too bad we were so stubborn for so many years.”

I shook my head. “I think you mean I was stubborn.”

“No one’s to blame. We’re together now, and we’ve never been stronger.”

“I feel that.” I felt his love traveling through our joined hands, up my arm, and straight to my heart. There was no greater support in the world than Talon’s love. I knew we’d weather any storm together.

The timer on my phone beeped, and we stood. “Are you ready for this?”

He nodded. “I’ve never been more ready for anything.”

We looked at the test where there was one line. “Not pregnant.”

I was a little disappointed but at the same time, relieved. I wanted this to be our decision, not a surprise.

Talon set the test aside and turned me to face him. “We’ll get pregnant when we’re ready, and we’ll have a baby.”

I nodded. “I know we will. Besides, we still have a reason to celebrate.”

He raised a brow. “Our engagement.”

He lifted me into his arms, and my legs wrapped around his waist. “We have plenty of time to celebrate and practice making babies.”

“Yes,” I hissed as he lowered me to the bed and followed me down.

He kissed me slowly and sweetly. I couldn’t believe we were engaged and planning a life together.

He removed my clothes and moved down my body, placing kisses. He looked up at me. “You don’t need that apartment anymore.”

My fingers tangled in his hair. “I don’t.”

“Move in with me,” he said as he licked me.

“Yes.” My hips arched of their own accord, chasing his mouth.

He held me down with an arm over my pelvis. Then he proceeded to slowly build me up. My heart was pounding in my chest. I didn’t think I could take anymore when he finally inserted his fingers, using that come-hither motion, and I shattered. Before I could recover, he was naked, and his cock was inside me, filling me in the best of ways.

Talon lowered his head, kissing me. “I love you.”

“I love you, too.”

He slowly and deliberately thrust inside of me, keeping our bodies close and never taking his lips from mine.

When we crested that wave together, he moved to my side, keeping me cradled to him. “I want more days like this.”

“They’re all special.”

“They are when I’m with you.” He kissed my shoulder. “I want babies someday.”

“So do I.”

“But if we don’t or we can’t, there are other options. I want you to know that I’ll be happy no matter what we decide to do. Even if the only babies in our lives are our nieces and nephews.”

“It’s our life to create. If we want kids, it will happen,” I said to him. I wasn’t worried anymore. There was nothing we couldn’t accomplish together.

“I love your confidence,” he said as he kissed me, and I forgot about everything other than our love and the life we’d build together.
