Page 92 of Endless Hope

Talon lowered the chandelier to the ground. “What would you think about moving in with me?”

“Talon.” My heart clenched at the hope evident in his tone.

“You’re here all the time anyway. The kiln is in the shed.” He gestured outside.

“That’s not a reason to move in together,” I said carefully.

He sighed and grabbed my hand, leading me to the couch.

“I love your gift.” I didn’t have something nearly as grand for him. “Speaking of, let me get my present for you.”

I snagged the box from under the tree.

“It looks heavy,” Talon said as I hefted it over to him.

“It’s not the same as what you got me. Not as grand or as beautiful. But I made it myself—”

Talon leaned over to kiss me. “I’ll love anything you get me. The best present is that you’re here.”

Warmth spread through my body. How had I ever let this man go? He was steady, trustworthy. He was nothing like my dad.

Talon slowly unwrapped the paper and flipped the book over.

“I had pictures of your work made into a coffee-table book. I even added tidbits here and there about where you got your inspiration.”

“How did you find everything you needed to go inside?” Talon asked as he slowly opened it.

“You gave it to Marley and Sarah when they did the blog writeup. It gave me the idea.”

“This is amazing. No one’s ever made something like this for me.” He flipped through the pages.

“I actually think it’s something you could sell.”

His gaze lifted to mine. “I don’t know that I’d want to.”

“I made it for you to do whatever you want with it.”

“It looks perfect here.” He placed it on the coffee table and then kissed me. He lifted his head every few seconds. “Thank you for my gift.”

“I hope you like it.”

He gazed down at me. “I love it.”

I smiled, feeling as if I was right where I was supposed to be.

“I’m so happy you’re here,” he said as he kissed my jaw, and I moved my head so he had access to my neck.

“I am, too.”

“I don’t want you to leave. But I won’t pressure you to move in. Everything we do is at your pace. Whatever you’re comfortable with.”

I didn’t want to hold back my feelings any longer. I lifted my hand to caress his cheek. “I love you, Talon.”

Light seemed to emanate from with him at my words. “I love you, too.”

Then his lips dropped to mine, and all sense of time dissipated. All that mattered was that we were here together. He murmured, I love you again, as he slowly removed my clothes and worshipped my body.

He took his time, building me up, his hands holding onto me as if he were anchored to me. When he used his fingers in addition to his tongue and mouth, I was lost. It was too much, yet not enough.
