I needed a new phone anyway.

“Everything okay, Scottie?” Jay asked as I went by the kitchen.

Nope. I may never be okay again.

“Yup. Just going to take that shower now.”

Jay was right. All the scrubbing in the world did not wash away the embarrassment of this morning. Scrubbing the cum from my pubic area only let me relive it. Oh god, but the way he’d watched me had been hot. So hot I might as well have been in hell.

And it’d have been worth it.

Crap, I was getting all hard again. I switched the water to cold and paid the price for my very filthy thoughts. I shook so badly when I exited the shower but at least the cold shower worked.

Quickly, I dressed and felt more like myself. Not at all sleepy like Jay thought. Maybe that would prove to him I hadn’t done anything last night. Just this morning.

Jay had a lovely breakfast set out on the kitchen table. Pancakes, eggs, bacon, and muffins. My favorite.

“Are those apple cinnamon muffins from the bakery I like?” I rushed over to the table and inhaled deeply with my eyes closed.

“You know it. They’re apology muffins.”

I waved him off and took a seat. “When has an apology ever been needed between us?”

“Last night.” He poured orange juice into two glasses and placed one in front of me before sitting. “I was too angry then to think. Should never have left you in the condition I did. I know your reaction wasn’t because of me but that asshole who put his hands on you. Yet I let my anger drive me away instead of—”

“Exactly, it’s David’s fault. Let’s not talk about it anymore.” I took a huge bite out of the muffin. If I’d had a tail, I would be wagging it. Just as good as I remembered. In little time I’d wolfed down three before I realized Jay was watching me.

“What?” I said around a mouthful of delicious pastry.

“You sure worked up an appetite last night.”

Crumbs flew down my throat and I ended up in a coughing fit. Jay rushed to my side and whacked me gently on the back. My eyes filled with tears, and I gasped for breath until my airway was cleared.

“I’m good now,” I croaked, reaching for the glass of orange juice. I downed it in several huge gulps.

“Sometimes I forget how much of a disaster you are.” He returned to his seat and took up a strip of bacon. “So are you going to tell me where you were last night? Is this going to become a habit?”

“God, no. A… a friend needed help last night so I went to help him, b-b-but it was too late by then so I slept over.”

“Did you happen to sleep in separate beds?”

Lie. Lie.

“You know you can’t lie for shit, Scott, so don’t bother trying.”

“Exactly,” I cried in triumph. “You always know when I lie, so believe me when I say nothing happened.”

“Except I think you’re lying about that one. Maybe you didn’t go all the way but you took a tour, didn’t you?”

“Not talking about this.”

“All right, I’m just messing around with you anyway. You’re twenty-five. You can fuck anyone you want and it’s nobody’s business. You don’t even need to be in a relationship to do it. Maybe this is exactly what you need. A quick lay with no strings attached.”

I put my hands together in a time-out. “Suddenly you can discuss my sex life?”

“Yeah, because we’re at a desperate stage here. You haven’t been with anyone since that fuckwad.”

“How’d you know?”
