“What’s with the new scenery?” I asked. “Couldn’t we have gone to our regular place?” I would have something nonalcoholic anyway.

“In the true spirit of adulthood, I found us someplace classier.”

“Is my bank account going to cry?”

Jay laughed as he held the door open for me. “Perhaps, but are you saying I’m not worth it?”

He poked me in the side, and I giggled. “Stop.”

“You’re so giggly. How the hell do you have sex?”

I smirked over my shoulder. “Believe me. When he lays it on me, I can barely catch my breath, much less giggle.”

Jay’s jaw dropped. I laughed and dashed inside. His shocked expression made me feel good. Maybe I wasn’t so predictable after all.

“I ain’t even mad you said that.” Jay hurried to catch up with me and slung an arm around my shoulders. “You’ve been so happy lately. I’m glad you’re fully over Professor Douchebag.”

“Don’t even talk about him. It’s a joyous occasion, remember?”

We went up to the bar where a couple of cute college girls eyed us unabashedly. Well, they were checking out Jay, but I didn’t mind the lack of interest in me. I’d never been the kind of guy girls were attracted to, and I was fine with that. Now tall, muscular men with abs for days, tattoos, and a potty mouth were irresistible. At least one was.

“You want to join them?” I asked Jay.

“Nah. I’m here with you.”

“I don’t mind.”

“Maybe later. For now, we’ll have a shot.”

Well, maybe this once I would drink with him. “Just one. Remember, we’re adults now and—” Crap, the butt plug I had put in early in anticipation of what would happen later with Griff felt like it had shifted.

“And what?”

I squirmed and pulled a face.

Jay dropped his gaze to my lower half. “What’s going on with you? You’re acting like you have something stuck up your butt.”

My face heated, and I glanced away.

“Oh god, you totally do. Don’t you?”

“I’ll be right back,” I whispered and walked to the restroom, trying not to give my discomfort away. The plug was large, and the base didn’t feel snug enough up against my hole. I clenched around it.

In the stall, I pulled my pants and underwear down, spread my ass cheeks, and fitted the plug all the way inside until the circular base pressed against my skin. I couldn’t resist giving it a couple of tiny shoves against my prostate.

If only Griff were here.

I dropped my hand quickly. Thank god no one could witness what I was doing. Griff had turned me into a shameless sex maniac. I couldn’t even be mad about it. Unlike with my ex, I had no shame about what I did with Griff. Not when he encouraged me to explore all my fantasies with him.

With my pants securely back in place, I listened to the sounds coming from the restroom. Footsteps came and went nonstop, so no use waiting until I was alone to sneak out. I flushed the toilet and walked out, keeping my head straight as I washed my hands. At least I didn’t feel like I was about to lose the buttplug anymore.

Feeling much better, I headed back to the bar. The softly lit interior provided a more relaxed feel than the other bar I sometimes visited with Jay. Would Griff like this place?

A man who had his head bent to a woman and his arms around her caught my attention. Something about him reminded me of… Griff.

The man moved back from the young woman, and I came to an abrupt halt. Griff. It was my Griff being intimate with another woman. No, not intimate, just embracing. He had to have a perfectly good explanation for being here, hugging a beautiful woman, instead of at a meeting with his boss like he’d told me.

Griff wouldn’t. He really wouldn’t. To have me pick his clothes out so he could go on a date with someone else was too heartless. I shook my head. I wouldn’t believe the worst of him.
