“Hell yeah.”

Epilogue

TROY

The bed was empty. I could tell even before I patted around, feeling for Maddie. His side of the bed still felt warm, so he couldn’t have gotten up long ago. I rolled over to my side, picked up my glasses from the bedside table, put them on, and checked my phone screen. It was after two. Was he in the bathroom?

With a grunt, I rested back against the pillow. Ten minutes later, when he still hadn’t resurfaced, I slipped out of the bed. The pale glow of the light on the balcony led me outside. Rubbing my eyes, I slipped through the French doors. The cool night air hit me, sending a shiver down my spine.

Damn, I should probably have put on clothes, but I didn’t dare go back inside. Maddie sat on the lounge, deep in thought. He didn’t even notice me until I lifted his legs, sat, then placed them in my lap.

Stretching, he smiled. “Did you miss me?”

“Yes.” I massaged his instep. “You know, when you’re here, I can’t sleep without you.”

He chuckled. “How do you manage when I return home?”

“It’s pure torture, I tell you. I build a pillow-size Maddie right next to me and pretend it’s you.”

“You do not.”

“I do too.”

“Hmm.” He moaned as I pressed my fingers into the sole of his foot. “You won’t need the pillow-size Maddie anymore. You’ll have the real thing forever.”

“I can’t wait.”

Moving back to Minnesota had taken me longer than we’d both anticipated. The eighteen months of a long-distance relationship definitely had its ups and down. We’d fought many times, but there was never any question of making up.

Maddie was my everything, and he was even needier now than when we had just started dating. Every chance we got, I flew him to Atlanta. It turned out he didn’t mind the city after all. On my days off, I’d taken him everywhere I could think of. When I was in Rosewood, we hung out with Ashlee and Evan who’d tied the knot two months ago and were already expecting.

During his two-week stay over Christmas with me, he’d played at a pub for their talent night. Someone in the crowd had taken a video of his performance and uploaded it to TikTok, which went viral. Since then, he made TikTok content, focusing on his music and spreading anti-bullying messages. His following was so huge he now made decent money from the app, every dime of which he donated to different anti-bullying projects.

My favorite moments of us were in bed, when he had his guitar in hand, and I got to see him create new lyrics, knowing they were about me…about us.

“Troy.”

“Hmm?”

“You love me, don’t you? You won’t regret moving back to Rosewood and living in my little house?”

“You know I do, and I’ll have no regrets.”

The past eighteen months of regularly visiting Rosewood Pines had only made me think of it as home again. With him and my grandaunt there, there was nowhere else I would rather be.

“I love you too.” He dropped his legs from my lap, crept close to me, and straddled my lap. “I’ll forever be grateful you gave me a second chance.”

“Us. I gave us a second chance.” I slipped my hand into his robe and found him naked beneath. “And what do we have here?”

“One naked Maddie ready reporting for duty. Let me ride you.”

“I have a better idea.” I kissed his lips, then boosted him off my lap. He was heavy, so it wasn’t an easy feat. Getting to my feet, I removed the robe from his body, leaving his tanned, gorgeous body on full display.

“Kneel, front facing the back of the chair.”

“Oh god, Troy.” He was moaning, and I hadn’t even touched him yet. I would never get tired of how needy he was for our sex, as if it was a daily supplement he needed to keep in shape. And he was in tiptop shape, so it was working.

When Maddie was spread out on his knees in the chair, I palmed his muscular ass. I glided my hand between his cheeks, pried them apart, and kneeled by the chair. My tongue hit Maddie’s hole, and he gasped.
