Members of the Griffins frequented Howlers’ regularly. Most of them were shifters from different packs and clans. They were generally nice people.

“What’s your name?” Angie asked.

“Alan,” he answered.

“I’m Angie.”

The first dance was fun, so Angie agreed to dance with him when he asked for a second. This time, though, a minute into the dance, his hand roamed and Alan grabbed her ass.

“No,” Angie said.

He roughly pulled her against him and squeezed her ass again, hard. Sean, who kept an eagle eye out for trouble all the time, had seen Alan and was headed in their direction. However, before he could make it, Angie kneed Alan in the balls, dropping him to the floor.

“I said no.”

“I will beat your ass, bitch,” he snarled at her. His hand shifted to a bear paw, and he looked ready to take a swipe at Angie.

“If you feel froggy, leap,” Angie said. “I’ve had a rough day and I could use a good fight.”

The man looked at her, startled. That wasn’t the response he was expecting. Before he could get to his feet, two men from the club hauled him up.

“Sorry, miss,” one of them said. “Nice move there.”

“Thanks,” Angie said, grinning.

As Angie and Flora sat down, one of the women came over and asked what they were drinking. “The next round is on me. Alan’s an ass, but you did good.”

“I appreciate it,” Angie said.

“Girl, I can’t take you anywhere,” Flora said after the woman left.

Angie shrugged and said, “What can I say. I’m tons of fun.”

“I bet that he thinks twice before he tries that again.”

“I hope so,” Angie said. “I’ve never actually had to use those moves. I guess the self-defense classes Dad made me take paid off.”

Angie had a great time hanging out with Flora, but the smiles faded after she got home. Thoughts of Noah flitted through her mind when she tried to sleep. There was so much that she liked about him. He was a sexy beast and his kiss made her melt.

She never expected him to fight for any kind of relationship with her, so she understood him going back to the shifter world. No human had ever been accepted in the Silent Paw Pack. It had hurt her feelings when he said that his time in the human world had been a waste of time.

“I guess it had been. He was here looking for a mate and went home empty-handed,” Angie told herself. “I’ve only known him a couple of days, so his leaving shouldn’t bother me.”

Regardless of what she told herself, she couldn’t stop thinking about him. His eyes were mesmerizing and his scent was intoxicating.

“Maybe I should have had a couple more of Jade’s teas,” she told herself as she tossed and turned.

Micah Hoffman showed up at her door at nine the next morning as scheduled. He was a billionaire from the Nightshade Pack and had agreed to partner with Angie on her pet projects.

She brought him a cup of coffee, and they talked about a couple of fundraising events they could host, such as a masquerade ball and an animal show that featured the fur babies in the shelters that needed a home.

“We could use the main arena at the fairgrounds for the animal show. The county would donate it since the event would benefit the county,” Micah said. “I’ll talk to the city council if you want.”

“Sounds good. I’ll round up sponsors and as soon as we have a date set, we can plan out the event.”

Micah nodded and started to say something, but Betsy knocked on the door frame.

“Angie, you have a visitor.”
