“I know. Arms, legs, pigs,” Noah said.
On the drive to the sanctuary, Angie called Flora.
“Noah came back. He says he’s willing to deal with the backlash if I’ll give us a chance,” Angie said. “I’m going to spend a few days in the shifter world.”
“Are you sure that this is the right thing to do? I don’t want you to get hurt.”
“I think so. But if Noah turns out to be an ass or it’s too hard being me in the shifter world, at least I can say I tried. We agreed that I would come back to the human world often to take care of my pet projects and see my friends.”
“Well, okay,” Flora said.
Noah could tell by the hesitation in her voice that Flora thought that this was a very bad idea.
“I love you,” Angie said.
“Love you, Sis.”
Lana and Paul were already outside making sure that all the animals were fed and watered.
“I didn’t expect to see you this early,” Lana said.
“I’m going to the shifter world for a few days. The reason that we’re here, though, is that Noah became attached to Rufus when he was here. He wants to take him back to the shifter world with him.”
Paul looked at Noah and back at Angie, raising his eyebrows.
“I promise that I’ll take good care of Rufus. He’ll be almost as spoiled as Apollo.”
“Almost?” Lana asked.
“No one could be as spoiled as that dog,” Noah said, laughing.
“True enough,” Paul said.
Rufus was lying in the sun and looked up when Noah slowly approached him.
“Remember me?” Noah asked.
The dog simply looked at him.
“I want to take you home with me,” Noah said.
The dog walked over to him and looked up at him. Noah’s heart melted. Rufus had such a gentle soul.
“I guess there’s your answer,” Lana said. “We’ve got to take care of some paperwork.”
Sean looked at Angie questioningly when she walked in with Noah and the two dogs.
“He’s willing to deal with the backlash if I’m willing to try,” she said.
“Take care,” Sean replied.
“I’ll be in and out between worlds. I still have obligations here,” Angie said.
Sean nodded.
As soon as they arrived in the shifter world, Noah led Angie to a luxury apartment complex. He spoke to the landlady and within the half-hour, Angie had a furnished two-bedroom apartment with a balcony.
“I didn’t expect you to be able to find something so quickly,” Angie said as they walked toward her apartment.
