He sat back in his chair and steepled his fingers.

“I think the best bet would be for us to have a pack meeting,” Zac said. “Arrange it for tomorrow. I think that it’s too late to have it tonight. People wouldn’t be able to be notified in time.”

“On it, Alpha,” she said. “Can I get you anything? A soda, coffee, water, or whatever you need.”

“No, thank you,” Zac said.

She stood in front of his desk as though she wanted to say something else, but then left.

“Definitely going to have to find her a replacement before things get too out of control,” Zac muttered to himself.

He was pretty sure that she wasn’t so stupid as to try to scream sexual harassment if he continued to refuse to go out with her, but stranger things had happened, and it was a possibility that he didn’t want to have to deal with.

Olivia was waiting for him when he picked her up at her hotel room. She was just wearing a pair of jeans that fit her body perfectly and a t-shirt with a hoodie, but she looked sexy. Zac had the sudden urge to push her back into her room and say the hell with going to the carnival. He would just rip off all of her clothes and throw her on the bed. His cock twitched in his pants as he pictured himself tasting her body and then driving deep inside of her.

“Are you okay?” she asked. “Do I have ketchup smeared on my face or something? You’re looking at me strangely.”

“Sorry. Just got lost in my thoughts for a second. Shall we?” he asked.

Zac soon discovered that Olivia was better at darts than he was. She hit every single one of the balloons that she aimed at and managed to get her own stuffed dog. However, he was better at throwing baseballs and managed to get her a teddy bear.

She wasn’t afraid to get on any of the rides and enjoyed the roller coaster with the loops best.

“I don’t think that you’re afraid of anything,” he said.

A shadow passed briefly across her face and then it disappeared when she grinned at him and said, “Not too much. I really hate clowns.”

“Poor clowns have a bad reputation. They just want to make balloon animals, juggle balls, and make the world laugh, but everyone looks at them like they’re serial killers. John Wayne Gacy really did them dirty, as did Stephen King with his book, It.”

“Actually, it wasn’t either of them that got to me. It was the original Poltergeist. At the end of the first movie where the clown was sitting in the chair and then it pulled Carol Ann’s brother under the bed. I had to jump off my bed as far away as I could and take a running leap at it every night for eons after I saw that movie. Even now, I don’t let my feet dangle off the bed.”

Zac laughed. “The movie really scared you.”

“Yes, it did.”

They went back to his place when they had their fill of games, rides, and funnel cake. She went out back to the glassed-in sun porch and looked out at the stars.

“I’ve always been fascinated by the night sky,” she said.

“That’s because you’re a wolf,” he said.

“No, silly. It’s more than that. It’s the stars and the knowledge that there is a vast universe out there. I wonder how many other galaxies there are that have planets just like ours that are fully inhabited,” she said. “The possibilities are infinite and mind blowing.”

“That is true. It would be interesting if there are already beings from other planets on Earth.”

“According to the government, there are,” she said.

“Maybe you’re one of them,” he said. “After all, you did just appear in town overnight. Perhaps, you are here to collect intel on crazy shifter people to take back to your supreme ruler.”

“You caught me.” She laughed. “And my Dodge Dart is my space craft.”

She stared at the stars and then turned back around. Olivia turned back toward Zac. The moonlight was streaming in her hair and his breath caught in his throat. Then, before he even thought about it, he lowered his mouth to hers.

Olivia

Olivia’s heart skipped a beat when Zac put a hand on either side of her face, gently tilting it up to him. He gently pressed his lips against hers, the touch tantalizing, teasing. With a moan, Zac pressed harder, his tongue begging for entrance into her mouth.
