Benny jumped up from behind the desk and almost knocked Olivia down when he hugged her.

“You’re okay. I’m so glad that you’re okay,” Benny yelled in her ear.

“I’m sorry that you were hurt because of me,” Olivia said. “I feel so bad.”

“Don’t, my girl. This wasn’t your fault. It was theirs,” he replied. “Besides, I’m good.” He flexed his arm muscles and said, “It’ll take a lot more than a bunch of bullies to take me out.”

Olivia laughed and then said, “I’m going to check out and stay with Jade for a while.”

“I have your stuff right here,” he said, handing her a couple of bags. “I found your phone, but it had been smashed to pieces. I just tossed it. I hope that it’s okay.”

“Absolutely,” Olivia said. “I go back to work next week at Howlers’. I would be pleased if you would let me buy you dinner.”

Benny grinned and said, “You got it. I never turn down a free meal.”

Jade’s apartment was awesome. She had wall to wall lined bookcases in her living room filled with books from several different authors that Olivia loved.

After putting her bags down in Jade’s spare room, she looked through the books and said, “You might have made a mistake bringing me here,” Olivia said.

“Why?”

“Because I might never leave,” Olivia replied. “You have captured my heart.”

“I thought someone else did that,” Jade said.

Olivia heaved a huge sigh and sank down on Jade’s overstuffed couch. “He has. I am in love with him. But, I’m not so sure that he feels the same.”

“He risked his life to save you,” Jade reminded her.

“True, he did, but he would have done the same for you or any of the other members of the pack,” Olivia pointed out.

“True enough,” Jade said.

“I’m tired of talking about me,” Olivia said. “What about you and Marvin?”

Jade smiled widely and said, “Marvin talked to Lucius about how he felt about me. Lucius gave his blessing for a mating ceremony. I’ll be a part of the dragon shifter clan and the wolf pack.”

Olivia hugged Jade and said, “I’m so happy for you.”

“Me, too, because I’m pregnant,” Jade said.

“Wow. That is so awesome,” Olivia exclaimed. “I’m so happy for you. I hope that it is a wolf that can fly and breath fire.”

“That would be kind of cool, wouldn’t it?” Jade asked.

Olivia wanted so badly to tell Jade that she was pregnant, too, but she wanted to tell Zac first.

Invasive thoughts haunted Olivia all night long. What if Zac didn’t want to talk to her? What if he blamed her for what happened with Declan and decided that she was too much trouble?

Jade handed her a new phone the next day. “I’ve already activated it. I figured that you would like to call Zac and your family,” she said.

“Thank you. You are sweet,” Olivia said.

She tried calling Zac, but it went straight to voice mail. She sent him a text message.

Hey there. I’m staying at Jade’s. I would love to see you.

“Let’s shift and go for a walk. The exercise will probably help you.”
