Even if I fucking love one and am marrying another.

They don’t matter.

Chapter

HENDRICK

“You’re telling me that Samson is doing some shady-as-fuck shit, along with skimming off the top, and he’s taking Ubers or something to do said shit, and then you lost him? Dad put you on this over some suspicion?”

“Essentially. And whatever it is he wants to do aside from taking some cash, his son wants no part in it,” I point out.

Wells clears his throat, shaking his head a couple of times. “This is getting deep. This isn’t just skimming off the top, and I think that Dad knows that. He would never have asked you to set up that much surveillance for a little skimming.”

He’s probably right.

This is bigger. There’s no other way around that. Wells is right. No way would Dad put this much of my time and effort on a little skimming. This is more.

“What do we do?” I ask,

Coleman leans back in his chair, then clears his throat. “We do as much as possible. Between the three of us, we can figure this puzzle out. With Hendrick on the computer and me and Wells on the street, we fucking got this shit.”

We do.

“Hamilton brothers are fucking unstoppable,” Wells announces as he lifts his glass.

I do the same, touching my glass to his, adding my own mini toast. “Completely fucking unstoppable.”

Coleman chuckles and lifts his own glass as well. “Because we’ll kill anyone in our way.”

And with that, we clink glasses then take a drink before we focus on our food. I can feel more questions from them on the tips of their tongues, but I also know they won’t ask because they’re afraid they’ll piss me off, and they probably would.

“Allison claims that the father is the guy she was with before me. He was her married boss.”

“But?” Wells murmurs.

“I think she’s lying out her ass.”

Coleman frowns. “But?”

“But I can’t do shit because I’ll be marrying Harlow. My vow will be to her and only to her. There is no place for Allison or a baby, so it doesn’t matter.”

Coleman’s frown vanishes, and he narrows his eyes on me with a snort. “Hendrick Hamilton doesn’t give a fuck about his own baby? Now I know that you’re a liar, too, brother.”

I am.

Allison and I are both liars. We deserve one another. I know we do. Because I’m acting like I don’t give a fuck about my own kid, and she’s telling me that it isn’t mine when I know the truth of it. I haven’t even given her an opportunity to fuck anyone else.

“It doesn’t matter. Decisions have been made,” I murmur.

Wells leans forward, his eyes on mine as he chews his food. “Dad part of these decisions?” he asks.

“It doesn’t matter.”

This seems to be my motto these days. It doesn’t matter. Nothing matters. I have made a fucking mess of my life. Thankfully, my brothers don’t question me any further. They can tell I am just doing what I’m supposed to be doing, even though it’s not necessarily what I want to be doing.

And even if I did what I wanted, Allison isn’t making anything easier by continuing to tell me that the baby isn’t mine. She’s lying to me, lying to herself, and there’s nothing I can do to make her tell the truth.
