And then I felt him. Thick and hard, he pressed to my entrance. I sucked in a breath as he slipped inside, and I tried not to tense when a pinch of pain accompanied the overwhelming fullness of having all of him inside me. He was much larger than my previous…experience.

He paused at my hiss. “Okay?”

I nodded.

“Words, Sol.”

“You’re just bigger than?—”

“Good to hear.” He studied me, his voice as strained as mine. “Can I move?”

I nodded again.

Slowly, he withdrew. The fullness added an entirely new dimension to the feeling. Then he pressed in again.

“You’re so tight,” he moaned, withdrawing carefully.

“Don’t hold back for me,” I urged.

“I’m holding back for me,” he choked. “Otherwise, this is going to be over in seconds.”

Goddess.

“Please.” I didn’t care how long it lasted. I needed him to move.

“Fuck.” He relented, moving at last. First with slow, deep strokes that pulled sounds from him I could never have imagined. I began to move with him, building and building, our tempo increasing. He hooked an arm under my leg and hitched it up, opening me to him even further. Suddenly, the thick head of him was driving into that same perfect spot inside me over and over.

I met him thrust for thrust, riding that wave until I crashed over the edge again. I contracted around him, and he called out my name as he found his release.

SIXTY

ZARIA

Athousand fae stood surrounding the outpost, all of them tinged blue. Half of them stood in an unnatural stance or off in some way, but all of them had completely white eyes. Even without pupils, I knew their vision was trained on me. I was the center of their attention as I sat on Nyx’s back on the opposite end of the field.

What hope did we have against all of the undead?

Movement flickered in the distance. I narrowed my eyes and could barely make them out, but then it clicked. More and more undead emerged from the sea by the minute. They climbed out of the water and stood to take their place at the back of the hoard.

Ice ran through my veins.

“How will we ever find Kol facing this?”

“We have to.” Nyx’s voice was as cold as my blood.

Dragons lifted from the middle of mass, at least a dozen of them, and right in the center was Kol. His dragon was unmistakable even tinged blue like the undead. His eyes were white, too.

My heart stopped.

I sat up in a cold sweat.

“Sol?” Nyx grabbed at me.

“Nyx.” I broke down, bringing my hands to my face.

“What is it?” His arms wrapped around me, and his lips found my shoulder.

“I saw Kol….” A sob took me. I couldn’t say the rest. I couldn’t speak words into life. What if they came true because I’d given them a spark?
