His arms stiffened around me.“What did you see?”

“An army. More than a thousand of the undead. Too many. We were facing them and…” I couldn’t get the words out between my sobs.

He hugged me tighter before loosening some. “Please say it.” Concern colored his tone.

“I’m worried if I say it out loud, it will it be so,” I admitted when I finally caught my breath.

“Life doesn’t work that way. It was probably just a dream, Sol.” He whispered his words over my skin, and they calmed me some.

“Kol was one of them, but not… He was…undead like the dragons that chased us.” I turned in his arms, pressing my face into his neck.

“He’s breathing. I can feel him. We’ll get him tomorrow. We have to.” He stroked my hair.

I nodded.

“It was just a nightmare.”

“How can you be sure?”

“I have to be.” He kissed my temple and laid back but kept me in his arms. “Try to sleep more.”

“I don’t know if I can. What if I see it again?”

“I’ll protect you.” He soothed my mind. How, I didn’t know, but I felt better as I slipped into sleep.

“We need to go,” I whispered into her hair. “You can still stay here if you want to.”

“Are you kidding me?”

“We are walking back into a death trap, Sol. I would understand if you didn’t want to do that with me.”

“I can’t believe you’re saying that. No. Vehemently no. I would never allow it. You need me. You need our magic. I am the only reason you got out last time!”

“I won’t be ambushed this time.”

“The entire situation is an ambush. You have no idea what they could have accomplished in the last few days.” Anger creased the lines of her beautiful face. I wanted to take it all away.

“I know it’s an ambush, which is what gives me the advantage. But I will never like the idea of putting you into danger.”

“You have to trust me.”

“I do,” I promised.

“Well, leaving me out isn’t doing that.”

“I see your point.” And I knew there was no point in arguing. I knew my mate. Her mind was made up.

Mate. It was real now. She’d accepted me, and we’d sealed it with orgasms I would remember forever.

“I can’t lose you.”I stroked her hair.

“I can’t lose you, either, so let’s make sure that doesn’t happen, okay?”

“Okay.”
