That sobers Oliver up real quick.

“Oh, fuck,” Ben says from behind me.

“You did not. Stace wouldn’t do that.”

I sigh, feeling a little bad for messing with him but not bad enough to let him off this easy. I didn’t fuck his girlfriend, but watching his world crumble in front of me is a little fun.

“Dom, knock it off,” Noa growls from behind me.

I finally release Oliver’s shoulder. “Relax, asshole. I didn’t sleep with your girlfriend, nor did she suck my cock.”

“You’re such a dick,” Oliver spits.

Yep, heard it before, but it still makes me laugh.

“It’s not funny,” Ben says, coming to Oliver’s aid.

“Why? Because I’m such a fucking whore?” They all avert their gaze at that, looking anywhere but at me.

Not waiting around for another comment or snide remark, I make my way through the crowd, going to get some water for Liam like I promised. Only getting stopped six times by people wanting to congratulate me on making captain or asking me questions about the season. I have to remind myself four times that I’m a hockey player and being patient with people is part of the job.

Finally, I spot Axel in the kitchen talking to a tall brunette with sparkling brown eyes. Her gaze jumps to mine as soon as she sees me approaching, but I glance away, not interested in pissing off another one of my teammates tonight.

“Dom,” Axel utters, not bothering to look my way.

“Liam is drunk out of his?—”

“Dominik Lewis? I’m a huge fan,” Axel’s friend interrupts me mid-sentence. Her voice is as sweet as the rest of her, and I push back the urge to smile.

“Thank you.”

“You’re an amazing hockey player. Truly magical.”

Glancing at her cherry lips, I can’t help but trace the rest of her with my eyes. She’s a delicious little thing up close.

“Does Liam need something, Dominik?” Axel’s clipped voice lifts the sex fog from my mind as I turn toward him.

“He’s a bit drunk. You may want to go check on him, since the party was your idea,” I say, arching a brow at him.

“Shit,” he groans.

“Yeah. Have fun.”

Axel turns to the brunette, offering an apology and assuring her he’ll return soon. Shooting me a cautionary look, he swiftly grabs four bottles of water and dashes off. As I pivot, the brunette’s attention isn’t on Axel’s departure. Her eyes are raking down my frame as if she’s mentally undressing me. Maintaining a sly smirk, I let her gaze ascend to meet mine, catching the precise moment she realizes she’s been caught in the act. Her cheeks flush the perfect shade of pink, and if it was any other night, I would have found an empty room and had some fun with her.

But not tonight.

Not since she arrived, reminding me of everything I’ve told myself I don’t miss. The memories of that night in Boston I can’t rid myself of. That night that was meant to get her out of my system for good but ended up having the opposite effect.

I wonder if she’s taken part in that type of fun since her first time… Fuck, why does the thought make me want to rage so hard? Why does it even matter? She doesn’t belong to me.

Never has, never will.

“Enjoy your night,” I utter to the brunette, offering her a tight smile before turning.

A gentle hand reaches out, clutching my forearm, and I find myself staring at her long, delicate fingers before lifting my gaze to meet her eyes.

“Leaving already?”
