“You like a man in a tux, then?”

“I like anything you wear,” she purred.

Zane’s voice broke the spell. “Speak a little louder. I don’t want to miss the good stuff.”

I flipped him off, and Avery clucked her tongue—sounding a lot like our Aunt Lori as she said, “That’s not very nice, Uncle Nolan.”

I bit my lip to keep from laughing, rearranged my face into a solemn expression, and turned toward my niece. “I apologize, Avery. I’ll be on my very best behavior today, I promise.”

She nodded. “Good. I want the best day ever for Emmy. Well, I always want her to have good days and be happy. But especially today because she becomes our mom for real.”

I smiled at her. “That she does. And we’ll all be on our best behavior for today, won’t we, guys?”

I glanced around at my brothers and Rafe, and they all grumbled their assent. Abby, Amber, and Katie all looked as if they were trying not to laugh.

Before anything else could ruin the peace, Aunt Lori finally showed up with Emmy.

West’s jaw dropped as he took in his bride, and I couldn’t blame him. Emmy looked nice in her off-white dress. One that hugged her slight frame.

Aunt Lori stood between West and Emmy. “You might have to see and touch her for pictures, but no kissing, unless the photographer tells you to. You need to keep something special for the ceremony, after all.”

West shook his head. “You already made me sleep at the house with you all last night.”

Aunt Lori raised an eyebrow. “One night away won’t make your cock fall off.”

West rolled his eyes as my brothers and I snickered.

Thankfully, Avery was too busy whispering in the corner with her brother to make a comment.

I went over to Emmy and kissed her cheek. “You look beautiful, Emmy. Take care of my brother, won’t you? He’s not the easiest person to get along with, I know. But he does love you.”

Emmy smiled. “Oh, don’t worry, I’ve gotten him figured out. Mostly.”

She looked over at West, and at their shared loving glance, jealousy shot through me.

Which was ridiculous. Katie was my girlfriend in truth. But suddenly, that didn’t seem like enough.

Later. You can talk to her later.

Within minutes, Aunt Lori marched us to the cars, and we drove over to Emmy’s place for pictures and the wedding.

The only time I was able to touch Katie was for pictures and walking her down the aisle.

But after the ceremony, I swept her off her feet at the reception and danced with the woman I loved, happy to have her in my arms again.

Chapter Thirty-One

Katie

Me: Don’t go near our secret hideout tonight.

Cassie: Hmm, I wonder why?

Sam: That only makes me want to go.

Cassie: OMG, are you a voyeur and never told us?

Sam: I’m not saying anything.
