“Books. I read a lot of books. Mysteries and romances, mostly. I can feel like solving crimes one day and then have the best imaginary sex of my life the next.”

“Pardon?”

“I like books with sexy times in them. Why more guys don’t read them and really learn how to make a woman orgasm, I have no idea.”

At the word “orgasm” I imagined Katie’s flushed face staring at me as I licked between her thighs.

Stop it, Nolan. Sex wasn’t part of this deal. A few kisses, yes. But sex? Most definitely not.

“This is where I live.”

I turned down the long, private road and drove up to the top of a large hill. My house soon came into view.

It looked more like a big cabin, complete with a log facade, and giant glass windows everywhere to let in the sun and take advantage of the views.

Katie said, “Wow. It’s beautiful. And you’ve never taken your family here? Why?”

I parked the car. “I don’t want to talk about it.”

After disembarking, I rushed over and opened Katie’s door. Once she slid out, she looked up at me. Had she always been so short?

“Well, I think you should bring your family here, no matter what they think. You’ve earned your success, Nolan. Don’t hide it.”

Ignoring her words, I gestured toward the front door. After frowning at me, Katie walked, and I followed. Sometimes my assistant came up here with me, but not this time. So I unlocked the door and Katie rushed inside, all the way to the massive wall of windows at the back.

“This is breathtaking, Nolan!”

The view of the valley below never got old. “You should see it at sunset or sunrise.”

“I can only imagine.”

I couldn’t look away from the pure joy on her face. Something as simple as a beautiful view completely entranced her.

I wish I could still be that way. But years in Hollywood and shooting films around the world had taken its toll. Enjoying the little things was hard when merely getting a cup of coffee meant constant paparazzi and people asking for selfies—and not in a nice way, but threatening me if I didn’t comply.

Not wanting the outside world to intrude on my sanctuary, I pushed aside those thoughts, cleared my throat, and walked across the open space to the kitchen. “Did you want something to drink?”

“Water’s fine.”

I filled a glass from the fridge dispenser and brought it over. “We don’t have much time, Katie, since my family is expecting me for dinner. So we should probably talk and get started.”

She sighed, glancing out the big window again. “I know.” She met my gaze again. “But even though this place isn’t that far from Starry Hills, it almost feels like a vacation to me.”

“When was the last time you took one?”

“I never took one on my own, only for family camping trips or renting a cabin on Lake Tahoe with the BFF Circle. I can’t afford to go anywhere else, and besides, my family needs me.”

It was on the tip of my tongue to ask why they didn’t pay her more—Starry Evans cheeses were extremely popular among the Hollywood set, meaning her family’s dairy had to be doing well—but she took the glass of water, gulped down half of it, and then turned to face me.

“We’ll have plenty of time to talk later. For now, just kiss me already.”

I blinked. “Er, what?”

She put down her glass of water. “I did some research and saw that you’ve always been affectionate with your past girlfriends. So if this is to be believable, well, we need to look like we kiss all the time. So, best to get it over with and figure out our style.”

I wasn’t fond of “getting it over with,” as she put it. But it made sense.

My gaze moved to her mouth. Her full bottom lip begged to be nibbled, and I could only imagine what those full lips would look like wrapped around my cock.
