“Most definitely.”

“Then I should start now.” He hugged me tighter against him. “I love you, Katie. So much. I never imagined I could be this happy, and yet here we are, just getting started.”

I leaned back until I could see his gaze. “We are. Although we still have a lot to discuss and talk about. Because once we leave Starry Hills, the real world will intrude again.”

“I know, and we’ll face it together. But regardless of any future discussions, there’s one thing that’s nonnegotiable.”

“And what’s that?”

“I’m going to take you to every place on that wall collage of yours, no matter how long it takes me.”

I smiled. “That might take a lifetime.”

“And I couldn’t imagine a better way of spending it.”

My heart nearly burst with feelings for this man. “I love you, Nolan.”

“I love you too, baby. Now, let’s rest a little and then we’ll start round two.”

After Nolan cleaned me up, we cuddled together under the blankets. I asked, “And how many rounds will there be?”

“As many as we want. We have a week.”

“Why a week?”

He stroked my back in slow circles, and it took everything I had not to fall asleep. “Aunt Lori knows about my place, apparently. She gave us a week before she stops by.”

I chuckled. “I had a gut feeling she knew. There’s nothing in Starry Hills that she doesn’t know about.” I paused and then added, “Do you think she knew about our arrangement in the beginning?”

“Maybe. But she’s also perceptive and probably kept quiet to see how things played out.”

“Why?”

He kissed the top of my head. “She wants me and my siblings happy. Beck and West found love and have turned into sappy bastards. Well, compared to before. I think she wants that for us all and is willing to do anything to make it happen.”

I snuggled more against his side. “Three down, three more to go.”

Although as we joked about which Wolfe sibling would fall in love next, deep down, I worried Abby might never risk her heart again to find it. She’d been hurt so badly by that asshole in San Jose, had vowed to never let her walls down again with a man, and had even started researching foreign countries where she could get a work visa to get away from the USA.

Maybe it’s just a knee-jerk reaction to her pain, and she never follows through.

Of course, she might also be serious.

But soon I couldn’t keep my eyes open any longer, and I fell asleep to dreams of a future with Nolan.

Chapter Forty-Three

Nolan

Six Months Later

Abby: I wish we could be having dinner at your place, Nolan. It’s so peaceful.

Aunt Lori: That would ruin his plans.

West: Why are we being included in this?

Aunt Lori: Because Nolan needs help setting things up. And we always help family.
