Sucking in a breath, I placed a hand over my mouth. “Nolan.”

He smiled. “Our story began with an agreement. We were basically strangers playing roles, trying to fool the world. However, it didn’t take long for me to notice just how special you are, Katie Evans. You’re funny and kind and have a bigger heart than most people realize. You’re also strong, determined, and adventurous. There’s nothing I can’t tell you, nothing I can’t share. I know you’ll listen and talk with me. Not because I’m famous or rich. Simply because you like me, love me, see me. I love you for all those reasons, and so many more. I want to spend the rest of my life making your dreams come true, making you laugh, and being your home. Will you marry me? For forever this time?”

A mixture of pure joy and love rushed through me. “Yes, Nolan, I’ll marry you. For forever this time.”

He slipped a ring on each hand before cupping my face and kissing me. I pulled him close and reveled in his heat and scent and familiar taste. When he finally broke the kiss, he sat on the bench, moved me into his lap, and kissed me some more.

Eventually he stopped so we could catch our breaths. I laid my head on his shoulder, hugged him close, and said, “So, does this mean we’re going to give Aunt Lori the theme wedding she always wanted?”

He chuckled. “Only if you want it, baby. The sky’s the limit. I only have one condition.”

I lifted my head. “Which is?”

“You let me take you for an extended honeymoon. Now that I’m done filming, I plan to take you any and everywhere you wish to go. I want to help you fill up your passport, get extra pages, and keep going until you’re ready to come home.”

I traced his jaw. “Home is with you, Nolan.”

He nuzzled my cheek. “You know what I mean.”

“I know. And I’m sure at some point, I’ll want to settle down. Especially since I don’t want to abandon the children at the center. I’ll have to find a really good replacement for when I’m absent. We can’t go before then.”

“Of course not, baby. We’ll make sure the kids are taken care of. Then we’re off to see the world.”

“Together. Forever.”

He nodded. “Yes, for forever.”

As we sat kissing and murmuring about the future, the stars came out and the moon shone brightly. However, I didn’t need to stare at them to help calm down my worries about the future. No, this time they shone down on me, sitting in the lap of the man who was my future, twinkling their congratulations, eager to see where our lives led us next.

Epilogue

Nolan

Just Over Three Years Later

Aunt Lori: I can’t wait to show off my dress tonight!

Me: I’m sure it’s nice.

Abby: You need to do better than that.

Zach: Even I know that. Aunt Lori, you’ll be radiant.

Zane: Unlike you. I swear, you can’t tie a bowtie to save your life. You’re going to embarrass Nolan.

Zach: I’ll ask Amber to help me. Maybe. If Luna will ever let her out of her sight.

West: You are paying for dinner later, right, Nolan?

Me: Er, yes. I said I would. I mean, you all are staying in my house. It’s not like I wouldn’t feed you.

West: Good. Children are expensive. Especially when you have a teenage boy. Wyatt alone eats enough for three people.

Me: You can have Wyatt visit me anytime to eat me out of house and home.

Abby: Another reason I’m waiting.

Me: You’re married to a millionaire, Abby.
