It was still hard to believe Abby had married Rafe. They bickered a lot, and I sometimes had my doubts, but Aunt Lori said not to interfere and so I didn’t.

Sure, I kept a close watch and an ear to the ground. But for now, I was letting them figure things out.

However, as soon as Katie entered the orchard, I forgot about everything else. It was show time.

Chapter Forty-Four

Katie

Nolan: I have a list of things I want to do to you tonight.

Me: Tease.

Nolan: Ice cubes will be involved.

Me: Oh, so I can shrink your dick?

Nolan: I thought you’d want my dick as big as possible.

Me: Hmm. But then you’d have to use your mouth. I’ve missed your mouth.

Nolan: I planned to have the ice cube IN my mouth when I teased you.

Me: That will take some skill.

Nolan: I’ve been practicing. I have it down.

Me: What, did you pretend your pinky was my clit and teased yourself?

Nolan: Er, not exactly.

Me: But then you’d make sure to have the right balance of hot and cold. I don’t want to freeze.

Nolan: You won’t. A little cold with a little heat is perfect. You came hard when I froze that glass dildo and played with you.

Me: I almost forgot about that. You are getting creative.

Nolan: I’m just getting started, baby.

Iloved Abby, but I really didn’t understand why she had to go make a wish on the Wishing Tree right now. I mean, she and Rafe had a place in town. They could stop by anytime.

However, she swore it was urgent. Something to do with a big decision they had to make. And since Abby rarely asked for favors, I couldn’t say no.

We entered the orchard and memories of us playing here as children rushed into my mind. “We should all pick apples together this fall and make pies, like we used to.”

Abby smiled. “That would be fun. And yes, Amber, the master baker, will win. But I’d like to make mine bad on purpose and make Rafe eat it.”

Their Vegas marriage had surprised us all. And secretly, I hadn’t been sure it would last. However, Abby seemed happier and lighter than she’d been in over a year. So much so, I might have to wish on the Wishing Tree that she and Rafe were meant to be together forever.

Before I could reply, we reached the center of the orchard and my jaw dropped open.

Seashells were tied to various branches and hung everywhere. Little glass balls also twinkled in the sunlight. The reflections danced off Nolan, who stood near the stone bench, his hand outstretched, wearing a tuxedo. “Hello, baby.”

Abby hugged me and then dashed away. I barely paid attention as I walked toward him and took his hand. “What’s going on, Nolan?”

He kissed me quickly before he gestured toward the bench. “Sit down, first.”

I did, rearranged my skirt, and then found Nolan kneeling in front of me, holding two rings—the sapphire one from our fake engagement and a new one with an amethyst.
