He reached for me, pulled me against his chest, and kissed me. Gently, slowly, and soon, I forgot all about my earlier insecurities. When he finally let me up for air, he said, “I wish I could take you home and strip you right away. But we have an appointment for your present.”
“I thought Jenn said that would be later today?”
“I managed to clear my schedule and move it up. And since it’s not something I can easily change to a different day, we can’t cancel.”
“Okay, now I’m more than curious.”
He kissed me. “Let me help you out of this dress, and then we’ll go. You can finish shopping with Jenn tomorrow.”
He turned me around, nuzzled the back of my neck, and then ran his fingers from my neck, down the skin exposed by the dress, until he reached the zipper. Back and forth his finger went, just under the material, and I shivered.
I heard the zipper release, slowly. And as it exposed more of my skin, Nolan kissed each inch until he reached the bottom, not too far above my ass. His hot breath danced across me as he said, “Damn, Katie. Tell me I can have you tonight. In my bed.”
My heart thumped as I tried to make my brain work. “Okay.”
He kissed my back again. “Good. Now, I’d better leave or I might just risk people hearing you scream as I lick that pretty pussy.”
“Is that supposed to be a threat?”
Nolan groaned and stepped away. “Not here. If I’m to get you for one night, I want you alone and to myself.”
I watched in the mirror as Nolan left. As soon as the door clicked closed, I put a hand on the wall to keep my knees from buckling. Had any man ever affected me like him?
No, most definitely not.
Maybe no man ever would again.
But that was too damn depressing to think about when I had not only a surprise to look forward to, but also sleeping with Nolan. I wouldn’t let anything ruin that.
When Jenn popped her head in to check on me, I learned that the salesperson still had to mark any alterations. I blushed as Jenn pulled the zipper back up, her eyes twinkling as she said, “Nolan’s never been so horny that he’d undress a woman in public before. Well, at least to my knowledge.”
My face heated. “Um.”
“Hey, it’s a compliment. You want a partner who can’t wait to rip off your clothes.” She waggled her eyebrows. “Trust me, it can be fun.”
Soon the saleswoman returned and stuck in pins to mark what needed to be adjusted. Once done, I found Nolan sitting in a chair outside the dressing room, looking at his phone, frowning.
But as soon as he saw me, he smiled and put his phone away. After standing, he took my hand and kissed the back of it. “Let’s get something to eat and then it’ll be time for your surprise.”
“I’m starving and up for anything. All I had were some pretzels on the airplane.”
He frowned and glared at Jenn. “You should’ve asked if she was hungry.”
Jenn rolled her eyes. “I figured we’d go out to lunch after this. It’s only noon.”
I jumped in. “It’s fine, Nolan. I was eager to see the dress shop.”
He grumbled. “Well, still.”
I placed a hand on his upper arm. “How about if you take me to one of your favorite spots? Maybe not a sit-down restaurant, though, because I’m impatient for my surprise.”
Nolan smiled. “I’ll save the best restaurants for later.” He took my hand. “Come on. The car is outside and the ride won’t be long.”
After I waved goodbye to Jenn—she’d take the car we’d arrived in—we exited the shop and sat in the car. Like the other one, it had a driver, so Nolan and I were together in the back seat. I gestured toward the partition. “Can they see or hear anything?”
“Only via the intercom. Why? Do you have something planned?”
He waggled his eyebrows, and I grinned. “Maybe later.”
