Simon slowly nods. “Right now, she’s the only one who can help us. We’re jeopardizing the safety of young omegas the longer we put this mission off.”
“How about we catch some sleep and make a plan in the morning?” Oliver says, looking between his brothers. “We can figure out a way to be close to Rory while she enters the house to look for the servers.”
I nod. “I’m not a genius with tech stuff like Iris and Julian, but if you tell me what to do, I’ll give it my best shot.”
Seth moves closer to me and pulls me into a tight hug. His powerful arms nearly choke me but I stay in his embrace. I know he’s battling his instincts to protect me and keep me safe.
However, this situation is bigger than all of us. If the Black Widow can’t find a way to get their hands on the rescued omegas, they’ll resort to kidnapping young omegas once again and use them to continue their sick business. We have to do something to stop Senator Vaughn and his accomplices from committing more atrocities.
I can’t let another innocent omega suffer the same hell as me, I vow to myself, making up my mind to help my mates.

Aurora
My reflection stares back at me as I pose in front of the mirror. Dressed in a pastel pink top and a tiny denim skirt, I look like the image of a typical unmated omega. A matching floral-printed scarf adorns my slender neck, adding to the ensemble.
My dark hair, styled into loose waves, tumbles past my shoulders. The thick strands easily conceal the listening device nestled inside my left ear.
I’ve added generous dabs of pink blush to my cheeks to cover my paleness. My lips are tinted a bubblegum pink, reminding me of the way I used to look a lifetime ago.
The only thing that differentiates me from my older self is the gun that’s peeking out of my shoulder holster. Grabbing a full-sleeved denim jacket, I put it on to conceal my weapon.
A pair of high-heeled tan boots completes my look. If anyone sees me walking around in Jake’s neighborhood, they’d never guess I was there with an ulterior motive.
Despite being ready to go on this mission, I feel a tinge of anxiety that threatens to crumble my resolve. Am I really strong and capable enough to go through the plan we made over the weekend?
I’ve been relentlessly practicing target shooting over the past week. My aim has gotten much better, boosting my confidence. If the worst situation arises, I’d be able to use my gun to protect myself.
Taking a deep breath, I stare back at my reflection.
“You can do this,” I tell myself. “You need to do this to protect Millie and all the other omegas that were rotting in those underground cages with you.”
The reminder strengthens my resolve. I’m ready to break into my ex-boyfriend’s house to steal the information that’s needed to bring down the senator and his accomplices.
My phone vibrates in my pocket. Taking it out, I see that Seth’s calling me.
“Hey, what’s up?” I ask.
“You don’t have to do this, Rory,” Seth says in a grim tone. “I’m sure we’ll figure out another way to get the info we need.”
Relief floods me. His call made me think something had gone wrong with the mission even before I could get out of the house. “Seth, we talked about this,” I tell him. “I’m going to be fine. If not, you guys are going to be right there to rescue me.”
“I hate sending you into that bastard’s home.”
“Is Simon and Oliver with you right now?”
“No. They’re on a call with my dad right now.”
“I’m going to be fine,” I assure him. “The camera on my jacket’s button will show you everything that’s happening in real-time. You’ll even be able to stay in touch with me through the bug in my ear.”
“Rory...”
“It’s time for me to leave,” I say, picking up a handbag. “I’m ready to do this.”
“I love you,” he says in an aggressive voice. “You must remember that, Rory. If you think you’re heading into a dangerous situation, just backtrack. I won’t be able to bear it if you get hurt.”
The angst in his voice sends a pang through me. Seth’s dead against me going near Jake but this is something we must do. We can’t risk the life of another innocent omega.
