There that word was again: love. Why was I suddenly thinking this way? Was it because of the danger they'd been in today? Were my feelings for them clearer now because I'd been scared of losing them?

"They smell delicious," I said as the warm scent of chocolate filled the air, and Star called out an agreement from the living room.

The look of joy on Nico's face made me determined to praise everything he ever cooked for us because I could tell that he filled every dish he made with all his love, and I felt lucky I got to eat it.

That night, we stayed up way past midnight, just talking and cuddling on the now-big-enough couch. Ryk gave me a recap of everything they'd done, filling in the things I'd only heard but not quite understood.

I felt bad for the human whose body the dark soul had possessed, and I hoped the other demons would find them soon.

"What will happen to the man whose body the dark soul stole?" I asked, and Nico sighed.

"The Otherworlders are keeping his soul safe for now. Once the demons find the dark soul, they'll be able to give the body back to him," he explained, and I sighed.

"Poor guy. And his family too. What must they be thinking?"

"Reece and the others probably altered their memories. Made them think the man doesn't exist or he's dead or something like that," Ryk said through a mouthful of cookies, and my eyes widened.

"What? They can do that?" I demanded, and for the first time, I realized how scary this whole thing was. The Otherworlders had the ability to change anyone's memories. They could make me forget Ryk, Nico, and Star if they wanted to.

"Yeah. They don't like doing it, but sometimes it's the only way to keep everyone safe. If they didn't do it, the family members might've chased after the dark soul because they looked like family and ended up getting hurt because of it," Star said, and I supposed it made sense.

"They'll probably return their memories after the man gets his body back. Don't worry," Nico assured me, and I nodded slowly.

The world was a lot more complicated than I'd ever expected, but as long as I had my boyfriends, I thought I'd be okay.

Epilogue

A Few Days Later

Dakota

For the first time since I started working, I'd called in sick when I felt completely fine so I could be with my boyfriends. It was Friday, so that meant I could spend the whole weekend at home.

After all the excitement last week, things had calmed down considerably. The other demons were still looking for the dark soul possessing the human body, but for now, my demons were free.

"Can you go wake those two up?" Nico asked, and I chuckled.

"Sure thing," I said, then dropped a kiss on his temple before making my way upstairs.

Peeking into our room, I smiled when I saw Star deeply asleep with Ryk curled on top of him. It didn't matter how we fell asleep; by morning, Ryk was clinging to or lying over one of us, usually me or Star. He was like a koala, and I loved cuddling with him.

"Rise and shine, people!" I called as I walked over to the bed and perched on the edge.

Reaching out, I ran my fingers through Ryk's soft, bouncy curls, and smiled when he pushed into my touch like a cat.

"Ryk? Wake up. Breakfast is ready," I said, and he blinked sleepily before gazing at me. He smiled the moment his eyes brightened in recognition, and then it took him only a few moments to wake completely.

Ryk sat up, still straddling Star, and stretched his arms above his head. Then his eyes widened. "Wait! You're not dressed for work! Is it Saturday today?"

Shaking my head, I grinned at the look of excitement on his face. If he reacted like this every day, I'd never want to go back.

"It's Friday, but I took the day off. I didn't feel like work today," I said, and he raised his fist in a cheer.

"You know, you don't ever have to go to work if you don't want to," he said, and my brows furrowed.

"What do you mean? Of course I do. I have bills to pay," I said, and he rolled his eyes.

"You also have three powerful demon boyfriends. I can pay your bills with a snap of my fingers, and you can stay at home with us," Ryk reasoned, and I shook my head. That sounded too good to be true. There had to be a catch somewhere, right? Life wasn't that easy for anyone.
