She pulls her covers up under her chin and pouts. “No, I’m not. You’re weird.”

“I said acting weird, and yes, you are.”

“I’m going to sleep,” she quickly says and then turns onto her side, squeezing her eyes tightly shut. Not gonna work.

I climb the rest of the way and crawl over her. “Tell me what’s wrong?”

“Fine. I’m scared. This feels almost too good to be true.”

“Oh, baby.” I don’t have the words for her, so I kiss her. I pour all of my emotions into it. I try to kiss away her fears, reassure her, and make a promise to her with that kiss.

Chapter 20

Journi

Cruz’s kiss deepens. We move at the same time as our hands begin to remove clothing. I allow my hands to explore his body, taking my time and tracing every indent along his muscles. I find.

“I forgot to grab a condom,” Cruz whispers.

“I’m on birth control,” I tell him. “And I’m clean.”

“Same. On the cleanliness, I mean.” We both chuckle and he leans his forehead against mine. It’s the sweetest moment we’ve shared. Just the two of us alone in the dark, staring into each other’s eyes with our foreheads pressed together. Never mind we’re on a bunk bed in his family’s vacation cabin—with his parents down the hall.

Cruz’s hand slides between our bodies, and he lines himself against me. Inch by inch he slowly slides inside of me. The heat from him and the silky feel of his bare cock has me biting hard on my lip to remain quiet.

He moves slowly, but I need more. I slide out from under him and push against him to lie back. I throw my leg over him and then slide myself down on his dick. I begin to grind against him, hitting exactly where I need it. When I arch my back and begin moving faster, I shift and hit my head on the ceiling with a loud thud.

“Shit,” Cruz whispers loudly, “are you okay? That sounded like it hurt.” Yeah, it really fucking did. But I just shush him with my finger and get back to business. A soft moan sneaks out of me, and Cruz places his hand over my mouth to help me stay silent as I ride my high. He feels amazing, and I’ve completely forgotten where we are.

I lean down and claim his mouth as I bounce up and down, faster and faster on his cock. His hands grip me firmly, and as he begins to flip us over so he can be on top, we hit the wooden bedrail. I can’t help my surprised laugh that was probably too loud. However, that is nothing when I hear the wood splinting. As Cruz begins to press into me, the wood snaps and we go tumbling off the top bunk.

The wind is knocked out of me as I lie on the floor. It’s then that I notice they have glow-in-the-dark sticker stars. “I like the stars,” I tell him.

“Wanna go lie outside and look at the real stars?”

“That sounds nice.”

He takes my hand and gives it a squeeze. Before we even have a chance to stand up, Joshua, Tyrone, and Cruz’s parents all come running into the bedroom.

“We heard a crash,” his dad says sheepishly.

“Guess Larissa isn’t the only one who’s going to be searching for a bed tomorrow,” Joshua yawns before turning back to go to his room.

Cruz and I do decide to camp outside under the stars. We’re cuddled inside one sleeping bag. The only condition I made was that it had to be on the balcony. Jason could come out of that lake at any moment, and at least if I’m on the balcony, he is going to have to work for my death. Also, bears. I don’t want to get mauled by one of those.

“I have a surprise for you.”

He raises up on his elbows and arches a brow. “Oh yeah?” His eyes sparkle with mischief.

I unzip the sleeping bag and rush over to the door. I open it just enough to pull out the left-handed guitar I had made for him that now has a new strap.

Cruz takes the guitar and runs his fingers along the leather strap. “You had my name engraved,” he whispers in awe.

“Yeah.”

“This is… this…”

“Stop. Don’t get all emotional on me. Play me something.” I sit down across from him in my sleep shorts and tank top. A cool night breeze tosses a few strands of my hair and hardens my nipples. Cruz can easily see them through the thin blouse despite the dim lighting.
