I grasped at his shoulders, clinging to hard muscle. “I like being in both.”

Probably too much, too soon.

“Mmm.” He nuzzled along my jaw until his mouth ghosted over mine in a teasing brush of lips. His exhale smelled like mint, and I clamped my jaw shut to keep him from getting too playful. He nipped my lower lip, then traced the seam of my mouth with his tongue. “Let me in.”

“Mmm mmm.” I shook my head.

Leo squeezed my ass cheeks with a firm hold before setting me onto the counter. One arm banded around my waist, and he slid his other hand up between my breasts to my throat.

Oh God…

I gulped, my eyelids fluttering shut as his grip tightened, tipping my head back.

“Nis.”

I forced my eyelids up, and a whimper rushed from me at the heat in his eyes.

“Give me your mouth.”

A shudder ripped through me, and I didn’t turn away—couldn’t—as he took my lips as though he owned those too, his tongue dipping in to stroke over mine.

Any thoughts I’d had about morning breath and turning him off dissolved into nothing, his every touch completely obliterating my mind. Time disappeared, and I sank into him as his thumb stroked along my neck in gentle caresses.

While I’d have preferred lightly choke me out and pull my hair again until we ended up fucking on his kitchen table, the scent of burning pulled me back to reality.

“Bacon,” I whispered against his lips, and he stepped back with a groan, pressing down on the tent in his pants.

Giggling, I hopped from the counter onto shaking legs and moved the frying pan off the burner.

Hands palmed my ass cheeks and slid downward to my bare thighs as I used tongs to transfer the burned bacon onto a paper towel-lined plate. “Hope you like it crispy,” I grumbled, upset I’d ruined the breakfast I’d wanted to prepare perfectly for him.

“You made it, so I’ll like it,” he murmured against my ear, once more crowding against me as he slid his palms up the backs of my thighs beneath his shirt.

I wiggled my ass, and he clutched at my cheeks, nipping my ear.

“Tease.”

Smirking, I moved away, determined to feed the man before he had to work. “What time do you have to leave?”

Leo exhaled like the truth annoyed him, and he gave me some space to finish. “I want to call in sick, but with the mess in the inlet…”

I nodded, understanding, even though I’d have loved for him to spend the day with me.

“I know you have things to do, having just moved and all, but will you be here when I get back tonight?” The vulnerability and hope in his voice had me shifting around to face him.

Leo studied me, his eyes flitting from one of mine to the other as though searching for the same thing I did in his expression.

“All I’ve ever dreamed about,” I whispered, choosing my words with care even though I wanted to spew out what I felt brewing inside me, between us, “is someone to accept me as thoroughly and unconditionally as I do them—then have it turn into so much more.”

Neither of us moved, and I struggled to inhale.

“What Ciarra started…” I didn’t know how to continue in words or action.

Leo lifted my tangled hair spilled over my front and smoothed it over my shoulder while stepping in close.

I tiled my head back, unable to keep my tensed body from naturally melting against him.

“You captured me the second I laid eyes on you Saturday night.” His gaze seared me. “You caught me with a speed I couldn’t control. I want to keep moving forward, if that’s okay with you. Slow, fast, hindered at times, I don’t care. I’m willing to bare it all because I think you’re worth it, Nis.”
