“Hey there,” he purrs, and I think he recognizes me at the same moment I recognize him.

Jag Hag.

I clear my throat and turn away.

I will not be distracted. I will not react to this man, even if my white Pilates outfit is now a dingy gray. Not when I have all this positive mojo going on.

Not happening.

I turn away and hold my chin up.

Jag Hag does not exist. I am here to seize the day.

I will not get lost in that gaze of his again and wait for him to douse me in something else. No, thank you.

“Are you new here?” he asks, not picking up on the fact that I’m clearly ignoring him.

I don’t answer.

He didn’t bother to pull over and offer me help when I was in need.

He doesn’t deserve pleasantries.

When the doors open on the seventh floor, I glance over and am disappointed when he doesn’t step off the elevator.

“Are you going up or down?” A woman carrying a mailbag calls out.

“We’re going up, Cecilia,” the man beside me says, and I scan the buttons to see what floor he’s going to.

I’m going to the top floor. Lucky number ten. I hope he’s not getting off on the same floor because no other buttons are pressed. But it’s a big building. He could work somewhere else on that floor, right? He could even be a client of the law firm.

Probably some married dude who checks out girls standing on the curb before leaving them worse than he did when he arrived and then heads home to his wife.

Yeah, he’s far too good-looking for his own good.

I peek up and see him staring forward, so I take a minute to admire what’s on the outside at least.

Tall with broad shoulders in a fitted black suit.

Blond hair that curls a little around his ears.

A chiseled jaw peppered in just enough scruff to make a woman lose her mind.

The bastard.

He glances over then and catches me. When he smiles, my breath lodges in my throat.

He has the most beautiful smile.

Yeah, his wife probably buys that whitener toothpaste for him.

I look away quickly, just as the doors open and I hurry off.

Mya and Emma are standing there.

Jag Hag pauses in front of them.

The perv.
