“Why are men so bad at this?” Sabrina says as she shakes her head with a laugh.

“You know I’m sitting here, right?” I roll my eyes.

“Yes. All I mean is that you want to be with her. She wants to be with you. She needs to know this is the real deal and not a fling.”

“Of course, it’s not a fling. I wouldn’t go there with someone in the office.”

“Well, it sounds like you haven’t convinced her of that. Daddy issues are the real deal, my friend.” She raises a brow at me, and I nod, because Sabrina’s father left her when she was only two years old, and she’s dealt with those abandonment issues later in life. She pops another tot in her mouth and takes her time chewing as she thinks it over. “You need to convince her. Fight for her. That’s all we really want, you know?”

“What?” I ask as I finish off my beer.

“To know that we’re worth it.”

I nod and think it over.

Mazie is definitely worth it.

Maybe I just need to show her that.

Chapter 13

Mazie

I’m soaking in the tub with a glass of Chardonnay and cursing his name.

Aidan Willoughby is a cad.

A player.

He completely duped me.

He’s been playing me the whole time.

Typical man.

He found himself a date the minute I’d canceled on him. How did I not see this coming?

And why does it hurt so bad?

I felt like I knew him.

And after talking to the girls, I was ready to give things a try between us. They were right. This isn’t the same situation as what happened with my dad. Aidan and I are both single—or so I thought.

Oh...I want to scratch her eyes out.

I am not that girl.

I don’t blame the other woman for a man who strays.

And he hasn’t even strayed because we aren’t even together.

I am acting crazy.

Completely irrational.

My disdain for Sabrina the Teenage Witch is strong.

Yes, I gave her a nickname because I’m immature like that when I’m angry.
