“That makes sense I guess.”

“So you own a dance studio?”

“For five years now. My friends and I opened the first studio in Vegas. We just launched the Miami location three months ago. The Dallas location will be opening in about another three months,” she replied. Her hands clinched and unclenched into fists as she spoke.

“That’s impressive. It suits you. Especially from the moves I remember…” I stopped myself from going any further. I doubted she was ready to bring up our time in Miami.

“You remember?” I wasn’t sure if she was asking a question about me remembering her or asking me to finish my sentence. I answered both.

“Of course, I remember you. Me calling you Dream Girl at Toasted Bean didn’t give you that clue? And I was saying, the moves I remember you doing while on the dance floor at the club.”

I wasn’t about to confess that I’d also meant the moves her body made while I was inside of her. Yeah, she wasn’t ready for that conversation. And I needed to veer my thoughts elsewhere before my cock got hard. I didn’t need to embarrass myself.

She blushed at my admission.

“When can the neck brace be taken off? I hate not being able to move around.”

“As soon as the doctor makes sure you don’t have a spinal injury.”

She groaned and closed her eyes. I could see her lips moving like she was counting to calm her nerves. I looked over at the machine, and her heart rate had elevated some but was slowly going back down.

“Shouldn’t be much longer now,” I told her. I wanted her to be able to sit up and look at me.

Just as the thought entered my mind, the doctor walked into the room with a chart in his hands. He walked over to Alora and removed her neck brace.

“Good news, Ms. Thompson. You cat scan was clear. No injuries to your skull, brain, or spine. How are you feeling? Any nausea or dizziness?”

She breathed a sigh of relief as he pressed the lever on the bed to raise her into the sitting position. She brought her hands up to her neck, massaging the area.

“No nausea or dizziness. Just a slight headache and pain where I hit my head.”

“That’s good. I don’t think you have a concussion, but you’re going to have one heck of a bump on the back of your head tomorrow. I do recommend having someone stay with you for the next twenty-four to forty-eight hours to make sure no issues arise. If you experience any dizziness or nausea you need to return right away,” he told her as he scanned the documents in her chart.

“I’m sure I’ll be fine,” she assured the doctor.

“Your blood work looks good as well. I see congratulations are in order,” he told her with a grin.

“Wh-what?”

“You’re pregnant, Ms. Thompson.”

Her mouth opened in shock and closed again immediately as she processed the news. I sat back in my chair stunned as well. My fears were now a reality.

What the fuck? I thought fate was giving Alora and I a second chance.

“How did this happen?”

The doctor gave her a pointed look and grinned.

“I don’t mean the mechanics of it all. I mean, I have an IUD. I don’t understand how I got pregnant.”

“No birth control is one hundred percent. How long ago did you have it inserted?”

“I had a new one inserted four months ago,” she said as she sat up straighter. He eyes raced back and forth, and I knew her mind was going a mile a minute trying to figure out how she was carrying a baby.

“It could’ve moved or your body could’ve expelled it since it was just placed. I’ll get our OBGYN on call to come down and check, and we’ll do an ultrasound as well to check on the baby,” he said as he made notes in her chart.

“Thank you, doctor,” she whispered.
