He nods back just as June screams. Her little legs charge to me, and I lift her up, tossing her up in the air before I catch her.

She shrieks and her little arms squeeze around my neck. “I’m sleeping over with CiCi.”

“Is that so?” I tickle her sides. “Why wasn’t I invited?”

“Unky Grey!!” She squirms until I sit her down. “No boys allowed!”

“Sorry, Greyson. She’s right. Girls’ night only.” My mom approaches, plastering a kiss on my cheek.

“Mom.”

“What?” She wipes my cheek with her thumb. “Sorry.”

Easton motions towards the kitchen, so I leave the girls to continue their wild night of fun.

“You got plans tonight?” He asks.

You mean besides crawling in bed next to Tilly? “Not really.” I clear my throat. “What’s up?”

“I thought we’d have a get together. We’re not kid free that often.” He chuckles. “Jace and Camille are coming around seven. Thought maybe you’d want to come.” He pauses, glancing into the living room. “Maybe Tilly can come.”

“We’ll be there.” I slap him on the shoulder.

“We?” He lifts a brow. “Together?”

“Look, some shit went down with Blaine.” My jaw clenches. “She ended it last night.”

“Oh, wow. Didn’t think she’d do it this soon.”

“What do you mean?” I ask.

“I just figured she wouldn’t cave this fast.” He shrugs. “You won her over quick.”

“It’s not like that.” I run a hand through my hair. “I mean…we talked, and I told her how I felt.”

“But?”

“I’m telling you this as my brother, not a cop.” I lean against the cabinet. “He put his hands on her.”

Easton’s eyes harden. “He what?”

“She was a mess last night when I got there. He had torn up the kitchen. Hit her in the face.”

“Fuck...” he curses.

“She’s planning on telling Adam and Cap. She just needed to get herself together. She said he didn’t seem like he was going to take no for an answer.” I shift off the cabinet. “I don’t want her being alone.”

“I’m sorry, man.” Easton meets my eyes. “What are you going to do?”

I level him with a look. “I’m going to protect my girl.”

Chapter 35

Tilly

I hang up the phone, and slouch against the couch. I called my dad to let him know that I had ended it with Blaine. I left out all the details. He didn’t need to know. He would probably want to press charges, but all I wanted was to put him behind me. I told him the truth. I felt I dove in head first, and realized I’d made a mistake. He was understanding and told me how much he loved me and all he wanted was for me to be happy. Richard Harper was my hero. He loved my mother so fiercely it almost seemed impossible that I’d ever find someone to love me that way.

The girls had stayed most of the morning, but left right after lunch. Camille had to check with Greyson which ticked me off a little. Like he was now in charge of my life. I’m in charge of my independence. He should know how I feel about that by now.
