“Hey.” He tilts my chin. “Baby don’t cry. I’m ok.”

“What symptoms?” I move to the next page.

“I’ve had some dizziness, and some confusion at times.” He scratches a spot on his jaw. “I’ve experienced a couple moments where I’ve lost time.”

Lost time.

“Like blackout?” I glance back up at him.

“Yeah, I guess. It hasn’t happened but a couple of times. You don’t need to worry.”

“I always worry about you.” I hand him the phone back.

My nerves are now back to being wound like a massive ball of yarn.

“I had just gotten the news from my doctor that day before I flew out here.” He lifts a shoulder. “I just needed some form of peace. To feel…. you.”

I pick up his hand, intertwining our fingers. “So, what does this mean?”

“It means my football career has come to an end. I talked with coach yesterday. We had a zoom meeting. I haven’t decided when to announce yet.”

We haven’t really talked about what happens now. Or what this between us even is.

“And how do you feel about that?”

He brings my hand up, resting it against his lips for a second before he drops it. “I think I’m ready to move to the next stage in my life.”

I chew on my lip. “What happens now? Us I mean? I mean, you live in Texas.”

“Not anymore.” He drags me across the comforter, arranging my legs to straddle him. “I’m moving back. I own a house here you know.”

I roll my eyes.

“I hear my tenant is a real pain in the ass, though. She doesn’t like to be taken care of. Has a wild rodent as a pet and likes horror movies.”

“She sounds like a badass,” I quip.

He smiles, nipping at my lip when I lean in to kiss him. “She is.” He kisses me long and deep before whispering. “And I’m so fucking in love with her.”

Chapter 40

Tilly

Something warm and wet hits my skin. I squirm, blinking my eyes open, to find Greyson’s mouth on my nipple. His tongue teases the sensitive bud, and I hum a sleepy approval. My body was exhausted in the best way. I lost count of how many times he pulled an orgasm from me last night and the sun was starting to come up when we finally drifted off to sleep.

His teeth graze me, sparking a feeling straight to my core. I let my eyes fall closed to hone in on the feeling, before I open them again.

Morning, baby. He signs.

Morning. I can already feel the heat in my cheeks. I’m not sure why I’m feeling bashful. The man had devoured every inch of me over the last six hours.

His fingers dance down my stomach, heading to where I was already throbbing just by one swirl of his tongue.

He pauses to sign. You wet for me, Rosie?

Why don’t you find out. I move my hands before reaching out to run one through his dark strands.

His lips move, but I’m not able to read them before he’s scooting down the mattress. I gladly open my legs, allowing him to nestle between them. His hot breath fans across me and I grip the sheet like a vice, waiting for my toes to curl.
