As I make my way back to the city, I keep replaying the image of Aria’s tear-streaked face in my mind. Thoughts of Aria consume my mind like a relentless storm. I can’t shake the feeling that I’ve made a mistake and that leaving her behind was the wrong choice.

Guilt gnaws at me like a relentless beast. How could I have caused her so much pain? The image of her tear-stained face as I walked away haunts me, a constant reminder of the pain I’ve caused. The realization hits me like a ton of bricks—I need to make things right.

Determined to make things right, I resolve to rearrange my life in a way that allows me to be closer to Aria. I made a mental note to instruct my assistant to handle company matters in my absence, only contacting me for urgent matters. I know it won’t be easy, but I’m willing to do whatever it takes to be near her again.

I head to my office, ready to face whatever challenges lie ahead and get back to Aria as quickly as possible. I get the feeling that if I waste much time—I’ll lose her forever.

As I step into the office, my assistant rushes over with a look of urgency. “Cade, we have a bit of an emergency,” she says, her voice filled with concern. “There’s a major issue with one of our projects, and we need your input to resolve it.”

Without hesitation, I dive into the problem, my mind racing as I brainstorm solutions and coordinate with the team to address the issue. Hours pass in a blur as we work tirelessly to find a resolution, the weight of the responsibility pressing down upon me.

Finally, after what feels like an eternity, we manage to resolve the crisis, and I breathe a sigh of relief as the tension in the room dissipates. But even as I celebrate our success, my thoughts drift back to Aria, the ache in my heart intensifying with each passing moment.

Once the chaos of the emergency has subsided, I pull my assistant aside and make up my mind. “I need to make some changes,” I tell her, my voice firm with resolve. “I want to relocate to Sweet Haven, where I can be closer to Aria.”

My assistant nods, understanding dawning in her eyes. “I’ll start making arrangements right away,” she says, already reaching for her phone to begin the process.

With the wheels set in motion, I can’t help but feel a sense of anticipation mixed with apprehension. Will Aria be willing to forgive me? Can we find a way to move past this and rebuild what we once had? Only time will tell, but one thing is for certain—I’m determined to do whatever it takes to make things right with the woman I love.

I spent a few days in the city before completing the necessary arrangements with my assistants. After finalizing the details, I wasted no time booking a flight back to Sweet Haven with everything in place, I board the next available flight back to Aria, and my heart races with anticipation.

The thought of being near her again fills me with a sense of purpose, driving me forward with renewed energy.

Arriving at her bakery, I’m eager to see her, to apologize for my rash decisions, and to make things right. But as I push open the door, my excitement turns to disappointment when I see the closed sign hanging on the door.

Confusion clouds my thoughts as I approach the counter, hoping for some answers. The young woman behind the counter offers a sympathetic smile as she explains that Aria has been home sick for the past couple of days.

My heart sinks at the news, a pang of guilt stabbing at me. I never meant to cause her pain, and the thought of her suffering alone fills me with remorse.

“Is she at home?” I ask, my voice barely above a whisper, desperate to see her, to make amends.

The woman nods, concern evident in her eyes. “Yes, she’s been resting at home,” she replies. “Would you like me to give her a call and let her know you’re here?”

I hesitate for a moment, unsure of what to do. But then, with a sense of determination, I shake my head. “No, that’s all right,” I say, forcing a smile. “I’ll go check on her myself.”

As I make my way to Aria’s house, my mind races with thoughts of what I’ll say to her when I see her. I know I need to apologize, to explain myself, and to make things right. But as I approach her door, a wave of uncertainty washes over me. What if she doesn’t want to see me? What if I’ve already lost her for good this time?

Taking a deep breath, I knock on the door, my heart pounding in my chest with each passing moment. As I stand on Aria’s doorstep, my heart pounds in my chest with anticipation and nerves. When she opens the door, her eyes are red and puffy from crying, and my resolve wavers for a moment. But I know I have to push through to make things right between us.

Aria’s eyes widen in surprise at seeing me, her lips parting as if she wants to say something, but no words come out. I take a step closer, reaching out to gently cup her cheek, feeling the warmth of her skin beneath my fingertips.

“Aria,” I say softly, my voice filled with emotion. “I know I hurt you, and I’m so sorry. But I can’t bear to be away from you any longer.”

“Cade,” she begins, her voice trembling with emotion. “I...don’t know if I can do this again.”

Her words hit me like a punch to the gut, and I feel a knot form in my stomach. “Aria, I understand,” I say, trying to keep my voice steady despite the rising tide of fear and uncertainty. “I’m not asking you to forget what happened or to pretend like everything’s okay. I just want a chance to make things right, to show you that I’m committed to us.”

Aria looks away, her gaze fixed on a point somewhere beyond me. “It’s not just about you, Cade,” she says softly, her voice barely above a whisper. “It’s about me too. I’m tired of getting hurt, of putting myself out there only to end up brokenhearted.”

I feel a pang of guilt shoot through me at her words, knowing that I’m the one who’s caused her so much pain. “I know,” I say quietly, reaching out to gently touch her arm. “And I’m sorry for everything I’ve put you through. But please, don’t shut me out. Give me a chance to prove that things can be different this time.”

Aria meets my gaze, her eyes searching mine for some sign of sincerity. “I want to believe you, Cade,” she admits, her voice tinged with vulnerability. “But I’m scared of getting hurt again, scared of trusting you only to have my heart broken all over again.”

I take a step closer to her, closing the distance between us. “I won’t let that happen,” I vow, my voice filled with determination. “I’ll do whatever it takes to earn back your trust and show you that I’m serious about us. Just give me a chance, Aria. Please.”

Tears glisten in Aria’s eyes as she looks up at me, her expression a mix of hope and apprehension. “Okay,” she whispers, her voice barely audible.

Relief floods through me at her words, and I reach out to pull her into a gentle embrace. “Thank you, Aria,” I murmur, holding her close. “I won’t let you down, I promise.”
