Mia's shoulders slump, and her eyes brim with tears. "But what if something happens to you? What if someone decides to hurt you because of who you are?"

And then it hits me. This isn't about her--it's about us. Mia is worried about what could happen to us.

I reach out and gently cradle her face in my hands, forcing her to look me straight in the eye. "Mia, listen to me. I'm here with you, right now, and nothing is going to happen to us. I won't let it."

Xavier and Lucas exchange another glance, and then Lucas speaks up. "Antonio's right, Mia. We take precautions. We're smart about who we trust and who we don't."

"I know," she says miserably. "But that doesn't mean things can't go wrong. What if you guys get attacked? What if someone comes after you because of your business dealings?"

I exhale sharply, momentarily at a loss for words. It's one thing to hear about the dangers of my profession from others, but hearing Mia voice those concerns are different. But then I remember that being in this line of work has taught me to always be prepared for the worst.

She looks at me, a glimmer of hope in her eyes. "But what if something does happen? What if I lose you?"

"Baby, we have contingency plans in place for situations like that. And we're not alone," I say, motioning to Xavier and Lucas. "We have each other's backs."

She bites her lip as she takes in my words. I can see that she wants to believe me, but her fear is still holding her back.

Xavier steps forward, a determined look on his face. "Mia, you need to trust us. We know what we're doing."

Lucas nods in agreement. "And we care about you too. We won't let anything happen to you either."

Our words seem to finally break through Mia's walls of fear. She lets out a shaky breath before saying, "Okay. Okay, I'll try to trust you guys."

"Good," I say with a small smile. "Now come here." I pull her into a tight embrace, pouring all of the love and reassurance I can muster into it. Xavier and Lucas join in too, creating a warm cocoon of safety around her.

For a moment, everything feels right again.

The three of us hold Mia tightly, and in that moment, a profound sense of peace washes over us, melting away the tension that had filled the room. The warmth of our embrace creates a sacred space where uncertainty and fear seem to dissipate.

"I'm sorry for freaking out," she mumbles into Xavier's shoulder.

"It's okay, baby," Antonio reassures her, stroking her hair. "It's a lot to cope with."

She sighs deeply and confesses, "I'm just scared of losing you."

And in that moment, a sudden clarity takes hold within me. Despite the risks and potential consequences that accompany such intense involvement, I realize that I don't want to sever my relationship with Mia. The connection we share, the deep bond we've formed, is something I treasure too much to let go.

As I hold her, feeling the steady beat of her heart against mine, I am reminded of the joy and fulfillment she brings into my life. I see the potential for growth and happiness that lies within our connection, even amidst the complexities we may face.

The weight of the risks and potential consequences lingers in my mind, but it is overshadowed by the depth of my feelings for Mia.

As the warmth of the embrace lingers, I feel a sudden urge to speak up. "Mia," I begin, clearing my throat. "I know that what we have is complicated, and there are risks involved, but I can't deny how much you mean to me."

She looks up at me with tearful eyes, and for a moment, everything else fades away.

"I know there are challenges to overcome," I continue, my voice filled with conviction. "But I'm willing to take on whatever comes our way if it means being with you."

Antonio and Xavier nod in agreement, their expressions mirroring mine. Mia's face breaks into a smile as she wraps her arms around me, and for a moment, all the fears and doubts disappear. In this moment, we're just four people who care for each other deeply, unafraid to face whatever challenges come our way.

As we pull away from the embrace, an unspoken understanding passes between us. We may not know what the future holds, but we're willing to face it together. And that's all that matters.

Mia's eyes glisten with gratitude and affection, and I know that my words have touched her deeply. The air between us crackles with a newfound intimacy, a connection that runs far deeper than just physical desire.

"I feel the same way," she whispers, her voice filled with emotion. "I don't want to lose any of you either."
