Evidently, she wasn't completely drunk and could still think semi-clearly. The ship might still be an option for Jasmine in case their suspicions proved correct after all, and telling Alberto about it would be stupid.

"What about the person sharing your bed?" Alberto asked. "Are you happy to go back to them?"

It was pretty progressive of him not to assume the gender of her bed partner, but then he might have suspected that her interest in Jasmine was sexual in nature.

"I have no partner at the moment." Margo took another sip of the wine.

"That's a shame. A beautiful woman like you shouldn't be alone. Perhaps I could introduce you to some of my friends? Do you have particular preferences I should know about?"

He was definitely fishing for information about her sexual orientation, and for a moment, Margo considered toying with him and answering vaguely, but perhaps it wasn't a good idea to make a possessive, jealous man think that she was interested in his girlfriend.

Smiling sweetly, she lifted the wine glass to her lips, took a dainty sip, and put it back down. "Tall, handsome, well-educated, and open-minded. The rest is negotiable."

"What about rich?" Alberto reached for the second wine bottle on the table and uncorked it.

"I don't care about money."

He refilled her glass and Jasmine's. "Most women want a man who can take care of them and their children. It might not be politically correct to say that, but that's reality. It's instinctual." He refilled his glass as well.

"Well, I want my dream guy to have a good job and make a decent living. I didn't say that I was willing to settle for a pauper. But I don't need a lot of money to be happy. Just enough to pay the bills and have some saved up for emergencies."

Jasmine laughed a little too loudly. She was definitely drunker than Margo. "With how much everything costs these days, you need to be wealthy just to afford rent and pay for groceries, and rich if you want to go out to restaurants and buy nice stuff from time to time."

Margo nodded. "I've been thinking about renting out the second bedroom in my apartment to make ends meet, but I might not need to do that after I start the new job I'm hoping to get." She took another sip of her wine and then put the glass down when she remembered that she needed to cut down.

The wine was so good, though. Tomorrow, she wasn't going to touch alcohol.

"What kind of a job?" Jasmine asked.

Margo frowned. Hadn't she told Jaz about it? She was sure that she had told her about the cruise being a private retreat for the Perfect Match company staff and that she hoped to get a job as a beta tester for their adventures. She even remembered Jasmine gushing over it.

"Didn't I tell you about it?" Her words came up a little slurred.

How much wine did they drink? They'd finished the first bottle and were on their second, and they had been drinking before that.

She was certainly overdoing it, and so was Jasmine.

"I don't remember." Jasmine lifted a hand to her temple. "I'm not feeling so great. I think I need to lie down for a few moments."

"What's the matter, love?" Alberto asked, rising to his feet.

"I'm dizzy," Margo said, even though his question had been directed at Jasmine. "Maybe I should call it a night and go to sleep." She snorted. "I'm sure to wake up with one hell of a hangover tomorrow."

KIAN

"Iwish immortality made wearing high heels painless, but I guess that's asking for too much." Syssi plopped down on the chair and kicked off her shoes. "You can go talk to Mia now." She lifted her leg, crossed it over her knee, and started massaging her foot.

"I can also stay here and massage your feet." Kian sat down, took her foot, and put it over his thigh. "After all, it's my fault that your feet are hurting."

She frowned. "How is it your fault? I was the one who wanted to keep on dancing."

"If I wasn't as tall, you wouldn't have felt the need to wear high heels."

On the other side of the table, Amanda snorted. "Men. They think that the sun orbits around them. Syssi is not wearing high heels because you are tall. She's wearing them because they make her look good. Why do you think I always wear them even though I'm tall?"

"Because you are vain?"
