She should ask Bridget about it when she saw her at the wedding.

Was she going, though?

It would have been a no-brainer with Frankie by her side, but Frankie wasn't coming, and Mia was with Toven, who for some reason intimidated Margo much more than Dagor did.

Perhaps it was because her future job at Perfect Match was dependent on him, or maybe it was the god himself. He seemed so much more regal than Dagor, which shouldn't surprise her since he was as old as human civilization.

How the hell was she supposed to wrap her head around that? She and Mia were the same age, and Margo couldn't fathom what an ancient being like Toven could possibly have in common with a twenty-seven-year-old woman.

Mia and Toven were both artists, so there was that, and evidently, it was enough for them to fall in love.

"What's going through your head?" Frankie asked. "You look stressed."

"Bridget convinced me to attend the wedding, and I was thinking that it would have been so much better if you were there with me."

"Go, Bridget." Frankie lifted a fist. "I'm so happy that she managed to convince you. How did she do it?"

"She said that if I wanted to become part of this community, I should start getting to know people. But what if I don't have those godly genes? What's the point of befriending people who I will be thralled to forget?"

Frankie scrunched her nose. "If you want to find out whether you are a Dormant, you really need to get to know at least one of them intimately."

Margo's heartbeat accelerated as she thought about the one person whom she would have liked to get to know that way, but then it occurred to her that Frankie had said that it was a requirement to find out whether she had those godly genes.

"What has one got to do with the other?"

Frankie was about to answer when there was a knock on the door. "That's probably Gabi and Aru with Dagor's clothes," she said. "Can you get the door?"

"Of course."

When Margo opened the door, she was glad that she knew who Aru was and was prepared for his godly beauty, or she would have fainted like she had when she'd first seen Negal. Thankfully, Dagor's looks had been dulled by the ugly makeup and dirty clothing, so her reaction to him had been more muted.

"You must be Margo." The woman standing next to the god offered Margo her hand. "I'm Gabi. Or Gabriella, but everyone calls me Gabi."

She was beautiful, too, but in a much more human way.

"Nice to meet you." Margo shook Gabi's hand and then turned to the god. "Hello, Aru."

He smiled. "I'm glad that your ordeal had a happy ending."

"Thank you, and I mean for everything. Negal told me that you and Dagor helped take over Modana's compound."

As he smiled again, a dimple appeared on his left cheek. "It was mostly Kalugal's doing. We were just the backup." He looked at the door to the bathroom. "Is Dagor in there?"

She nodded. "He's taking a shower."

"I'd better give him this." Aru lifted a large paper bag.

Margo stepped aside, letting the two enter the tiny patient room.

"I love your dress," she said to Gabi after Aru ducked into the bathroom. "It's gorgeous."

The fabric had a slight sheen to it, and the color was blue with a purple hue. The bodice was tight, and the skirt was voluminous, reminiscent of fifties style but with a modern twist.

"Thank you." Gabi did a little twirl that was limited by the cramped space. "It's a bit much, but I just couldn't resist getting it." She chuckled. "Do you have any idea how difficult it is to shop for ten different evening gowns for ten weddings?"

"I can't imagine. I have trouble buying one."

"That's why I don't buy them," Frankie said. "It's such a waste of money. I just borrowed them from my cousins."
