Margo cast her a smile. "Not all of us are lucky to have a big, close-knit family."

"Speaking of evening wear," Gabi said. "Why aren't you dressed yet? Do you need to borrow a dress? You can have one of mine." She looked Margo over. "We are about the same size."

Gabi was a little plumper, but that wasn't something one woman could say to another without offending her.

"Thank you for the offer, but I intend to raid Frankie's closet."

"Awesome." Gabi grinned. "For a moment there, I thought that you were planning to skip the wedding, and that would have been a shame."

Margo winced. "In fact, that was precisely what I planned, but Bridget convinced me to attend. I should probably rush back to the cabin to shower and find a dress I can squeeze into." She looked at her feet. "I'll try to match it to these shoes because they are the only ones I have."

"What size do you wear?" Gabi asked.

"Eight. But Frankie wears size six, so nothing of hers fits me."

"I have a brand new pair of black pumps in size eight and a half that are a little too small on me, which means that they will fit you perfectly. I'll go back up and drop them by your cabin door."

"Thank you."

The bathroom door opened, and Aru stepped out. "Are you ready, my love?" He offered his arm to Gabi.

"I am, but we need to go back to the cabin. I have a pair of shoes that I want to give to Margo. A lady can't survive with just one pair, right?"

Frankie nodded enthusiastically. "Shoes are what I spend most of my clothing budget on."

Aru turned to Margo. "I'm so glad that you are coming to the wedding. Negal will be happy to see you."

Her heart felt as if the god had driven a spike through it. "I doubt he will even notice I'm there."

"Oh, he will definitely notice." Aru grinned with a knowing glint in his dark eyes.

Did he know something she didn't?

KIAN

There was a fresh carafe of coffee in front of Turner when Kian entered the cabin, and he looked at it longingly.

Reading his expression, Turner reached for it. "I'll pour you a cup."

The guy looked like crap, with bags under his eyes and his hair sticking out in all directions. Theo sat across from Turner and didn't look much better than the strategist. Onegus, on the other hand, looked just fine even though Kian doubted he had gotten any sleep either.

Kian felt guilty for being the only one who had taken a break to catch a short nap. "I guess none of you has gotten any shuteye." He pulled out a chair and sat down.

"There was no time," Turner said.

"I slept for an hour, so I'm good." Theo waved a hand over his face. "I look like crap because I didn't have time to shower, and this makeup is making me look like one of Modana's thugs." He scrubbed a hand over his face, then looked at the makeup smear on his fingers and grimaced. "I don't know how women put up with this stuff."

"Or high heels," Turner murmured. "It's vanity. If the makeup made you look better instead of worse, you wouldn't mind as much."

Leaning back, Theo grinned. "There is no improving on this." He waved a hand over his face.

As Onegus rolled his eyes and came back with a witty retort, Kian took a grateful sip from the coffee and then put the mug down. "Let's make it quick so you can grab a shower before the wedding. What's going on at Modana's place?"

"He returned to his mansion and immediately organized a group prayer with the men on the estate." Theo chuckled. "I wouldn't have believed it if I didn't see it with my own eyes, I mean the cameras' eyes. We followed Nick's advice and hooked into Modana's surveillance network instead of installing the stuff we had, which wasn't nearly as good as what was already in place." He cast Turner an accusing glance. "Your contractor supplied us with crap. It was old technology with cameras too large to hide or camouflage."

Turner shrugged. "I can't always pull off a miracle, and that was all my guy could get on such short notice."
