“I’m proud of you. I just came up to check in before the game starts. I have to get back before the doors open. I’ll see you after media?” he asks.

“Yeah, I’ll see you after.”

“Is this what you’re wearing tonight?” he asks, giving me a full body scan, taking in my hoody, jeans and platform Keds.

“No, I have jeans, heels and your jersey stuffed in a backpack that I’ll change into.”

I know he wouldn’t have said anything if I told him that, in fact, I would be wearing this tonight.

“You look good in anything but I love seeing the name Haynes anywhere on your body,” he says with a devilish grin.

“Then I guess you’ll like the panties I’m wearing today,” I tease.

He licks his lips and now I wish this game was already over.

“When are you going to make that name permanent?” he asks.

“You want me to change my name?”

We’d never discussed this before. Probably because it’s a lot of work to change everything when we were planning to divorce anyway. Then I’d have to go through the hassle of yet another change… but now, the idea of it makes me giddy.

Having Ryker’s last name would make this feel so much more official, even though we’re technically a married couple that just started dating.

“Only if you feel comfortable with it,” he says, rubbing my back. “But we can wait if you don’t want to.”

Getting rid of Di Costa, the name still attached to my father, and trading it in for a man who’s asking for a future with me feels like the exact thing I’d like to do.

“When would you want me to change it?”

“Yesterday,” he says simply.

I chuckle at his eagerness.

“Ok, I’ll start the paperwork tomorrow, how about that?”

“I like that a lot, Juliet Haynes.”

He bends down and sets a kiss on the top of my head.

“I have to go before they open the doors. I’ll see you later,” he says over his shoulder as he turns, taking long strides away from me back toward the locker rooms.

Juliet Haynes.

I can barely wait to fill out the paperwork.

Ryker

After a long grueling game, we pulled out a win, but my body is going to feel this one tomorrow.

My plans to convince Juliet to take a long shower with me tonight is on the top of my list.

When I walk out of media in my suit with my duffle bag over my shoulder, I see Autumn and Tessa, but not Juliet.

“Hey,” I say to both of them.

“Good game, Haynes,” Tessa says.

“Thanks. Any chance you know where my wife is?” I ask.
