Chapter 17

Spike

Watching Aria walking away from the cop made me happy. Watching him crumble is the biggest boost to my ego. Last night, I was crushed that I didn’t get my little one home, but seeing the issues I’ve caused for her and lover boy is better than I expected. They’ll become reckless now, and I’ll be there to strike.

Aria walks out of the cabin with the other beefcake hot on her heels, carrying a bag. She looks down to where the cop stands and watches him for a few moments. It kills me that she has these feelings for someone else, but I’ll make her pay when I get her home. How dare she disrespect me like that? How dare she forget what we had?

She gets in the truck and closes the door. Beefcake follows suit and places a kiss on her forehead, which only angers me even more. They shouldn’t touch someone else’s property. Didn’t their mother teach them anything?

The truck pulls away and the security detail follows them out, leaving the cop and one guy sitting on the grass at the water. I should follow Aria, but I know where they’ll be taking her, and I’ll be ready to strike when the time comes.

Right now, I’m entranced by the sight in front of me. I feel power from watching a man crumble. I never thought that would be possible, but I like it. No. I love it.

I take my cell from my pocket and snap some pictures of the cop wiping his face, and the other guy patting his shoulder. I never had that kind of friendship growing up. I was surrounded by psychos and pills. No relationships were true, even the ones that I should have been able to count on. I’ve learnt that you can only trust yourself. Don’t rely on anyone, because you’ll only be disappointed.
